Considerable option in Jozankei area”
Some guests reviewed this place old. Obviously, Sankeien hotel is not a brand new one in the area. Yet, old does not mean worn-out but rather nostalgic. I and my family enjoyed well-maintained clean room, yummy breakfast, public open bath, and general nostalgic atmosphere which the hotel and the area have.

Hotel with the best view in Jozankei”
Great location, with bus stop right in front of hotel. Because of its higher location, from the hot spring bath, you have the mountain view and Jozankei Gensen Park. Wonderful service from the hotel staff despite their low English proficiency. I will definitely stay here on my next visit.

Pleasant stay”
Booked our stay 1 week before travel period. Comfortable room for 4 with buffet breakfast included. Onsen was also good but it's more clear water than sulphur type. Walking distance to nearby Jozankei shrine and Futami suspension bridge.

Have stayed in several onsen hotels in Jozenkei but still find Sankeien pleasant. The traditional dinner and breakfast was a really good experience for first timer.

The best hotel in Jozankei for traveler who like peace”
This hotel locate in perfect location, I believe that every room can see river view. The room has little old smell but it will disappear if you just open window to get fresh air. I really enjoy sitting near windows look at the view, quite relaxing. The onsen is lovely , not so crowded. This hotel is not so big hotel , so it was very peaceful hotel. Hotel staffs are friendly , they can speak English a ntbit. This hotel also has free parking so it is good to rent a car to come here. It is just about 700 meters to walk to Lawson or family mart and there is nice restaurant nearby this hotel. I would like to stay at this hotel again in the near future.

Affordable”
The hotel is... old. The room smelled a bit funny when I was there, but other facilities were still well-equipped. I got to use the onsen in the evening, and it's very big and quite nice. I went again in the morning, and there was a sign saying it's close. The food was good. It was not that fancy, but it was nice enough to pleases everyone. My mom really likes the boiled rice it served there. Overall it's quite nice compared to the price.

A little bit disappointed due to I booked a Japanese tatami room, however the room provided is western room. I am travelling with a baby which the tatami style is more suitable and convenient to me. The hotel didn't provide telephone number which is difficult to find from gps. Other than mention above, overall is ok.

Peaceful hotel located right beside the river.”
Clean big room. Onsen for used at level 1. We bought the package with dinner thus you just need to inform the reception on what time you would like to have dinner. Hotel is located right next to the river thus you will be able to hear the water rushing sound.... walking distance to a nearby mountain too... but as there was warnings about bear, we didnt go up the viewpoint.

Relaxing Place”
Sapporro famous hotspring area. Hotel have free shuttle from/to Sapporo station>hotel but limited time schedule. All the staff are very friendly and added point is the staff willing to stand under the heavy rain and hand over an umbrella to me while get off from the shuttle. Hotel itself have hot spring. Nearby can find some shops, eg. souvenirs shop and attractions eg. bridge. Surrounding are fresh, quiet and relaxing.....

Very nice Japanese style hotel”
This is our first time in a Japanese style hotel and we love it. The staff were helpful and courteous. The Japanese breakfast was superb. The only downside is no internet in the room.

Looking like family type hotel! ”
Good location, easy to access & transfer provided between hotel and Sapporo station.( 2 time per day from Sapporo station to hotel- but need to pre book 1 day in advance) checkout from hotel to Sapporo station only limited 9.30am, plan accordingly. If you plan to have meals at hotel please prebook together with your hotel booking, they only prepare for prebook customer and not walk it at all. Limited restaurants nearby specially if you need to walk at winter time.

Hotel is not new but clean, include Japanese breakfast and dinner. Hotel provide us healthy meals and let us choose the schedule. Japanese rice here is very good quality. Staff are very polite.

Locality is ideal w Gensen foot bath within 60m away and within walking distance to most attractions. Hotel is in need of major face lift. Whole outlook looks dreary. The bathroom in our room smelled of urine. The front desk lady was very helpful n approachable even with limited English.

Great location. Room is a little outdated but still a good hotel. Not too crowded during off-peak season so onsen is just a few people using it. Will stay here again the next time!

Wonderful Scenery, Good Food, Poor English Speaking Staff”
Old hotel but the Onsen was great! Food was also good but staff speak little or no english at all. Beware that they will charge a "onsen tax" during checkout for every guest even if you don't use it.

awesome onsen”
there was an outdoor onsen and it was so relaxing. the onsen is well equipped. had a rather pleasant stay. view from the room was nice as well and within walking distance to the suspension bridge. the only down side was that there was gasoline smell in the air which we had no idea where it is coming from.

My family had checked in on 29-Oct for one night stay for 3 pax at your hotel and has requested non smoking room upon reservation booking thru booking.com Upon arrival we we're given a smoking room on the 7th floor which we cannot stand the smell as no one smoke in my family. Then I went down to the concierge to make a request to change room. The front desk personal then gave us a room on 8th floor which is not set up for us. Room number 806. The staff has transferred the extra bed, tea pot from 7th floor to 8th floor but did not transfer what was left in the room. It appeared that the staff did not do a check of the room before complete the transfer. Even if the staff did not have the chance to do so st that point , would the hotel not have checked n cleared the room by the time we checked the next morning ? We were pretty disappointing with the service provided and will not recommend any friend to stay in that hotel (Hotel Sankeien in Jozankei) Regards Sandran
