Great stay in an onsen hotel”
This onsen hotel is situated in a quiet area near Shin-Hakota mountain. Food was good, and the private bath was decent. I wish the wood used for the bath is smoother, as I could feel some wood splinters when using the bath. A outdoors shared onsen would be beautiful too since the surroundings is serene. Bed is comfortable.

Highly recommended”
The hotel is conveniently located; close enough to Nakao Kogen bus stop. The room is spacious and a big plus is to have your own small onsen in the room! Totally enjoyed the relaxing onsen experience and also hiking to the North Alps bridge in the morning. Would highly recommend the hotel.

Hidden gem”
This hotel is a great value for a low price. It’s a little bit. It looks a little bit outdated but at the same time it’s cozy. Rooms have amazing views and private onsen.

Worth the extra mile”
I was reluctant to come here at first because of the long travel time by bus and the high cost of it. It is soo worth it because those 90 minutes bus ride were stunning.

Remote ”
Its remote and hotel has no restaurant on site. So if you did not arrange for dinner you will have to drive out to another place for dinner. Our dinner communucation was not received by the hotel n we had to drive to another area about 20 mins away for dinner. Driving back in the dark was not safe as there are no road lights and we got lost. However the rooms were huge . But breakfast set was nothing great.

Amazing views”
Considering the fact that each room has private onsen the price is really low. The installations are slightly outdated though. But still a good hotel for that price. Very impressive views from room and specially from terrace.

Acceptable”
It’s a really bad experience to stay one night in this hotel last week. The impolite and bad service of the staff, push us to finish the dinner within an hour as they need to leave the hotel at 8pm and they need to turn off the light for all the public area. They always said ‘impossible’ for our request. It is a dilapidated and dirty hotel which totally different from the photos provided.

One of the best hotels I had ever stayed”
First off, if you take Nohi bus, the closest bus stop to get off is Hoshi no Kane mae. But if you enjoy hiking, you can get off at Nakao Kogen Guchi and then walk uphill for about 15 minutes while enjoying the beautiful scenery. The room is absolutely massive and comes with its own private onsen which is amazing. The staffs are very friendly. Because I had to leave early morning, they were kind enough to prepare me a sandwich box for takeaway and even drive me to the bus stop. They are the best. Also, do try the dinner they offer for additional 2000 yen (3600 yen if with hida beef). It's buffet style and very delicious. If I visit Okuhida again, I will definitely stay at this hotel.

Excellent”
Generally very good, however communal hot spring within the hotel was not operational and we not advised of this prior to booking, only when we arrived. The facade on the hotel is a pretty ugly faux-rock wall around the entrance but the hotel itself is very quiet and relaxing. The internal onsen in our room was real hot spring and lovely. Although we were initially wary of paying for the buffet, at Y2000 adult and half price child it was actually very good value given the quality of the food and the inclusion of dessert. Options included Japanese and Western food with some local delicacies also. Delicious Hida beef options are also available at extra cost, although we had already eaten plenty of this in Takayama prior to coming to the Onsen so we went with the standard buffet. Breakfast is included and is also top-notch with plenty of variety. Beautiful location with roof-top deck view of the main mountain range and ropeway. You can see all this from the restaurant.

Nice and quiet place”
Not to far off from the bus stop however though not all the stops at the nearest bus stop so make sure to check on the time schedule else you might have to walk quite around 10 minutes from downhill. They have a lunch break timing for the staff hence is advisable to check in after 3pm. Very nice private onsen in the room too.

Strange location and strange experience”
We had been many hot spring hotel and resorts in Japan. Most of hotels will not allow to check in before 3 pm but at least they have hotel staff standing by. This hotel has no staff in lobby after we parked our car and 1 1/2 hours waiting at their lounge ...literally deserted. Hotel manager and staff appeared sharp at 3 pm. Nothing wrong but strange feeling. Spacious room and hot spa facilities were good. However, food is on par with the price. Nothing to do in the hotel except relaxing in the room. If you are looking for family style hot spring hotel this is not recommended.

Needs a makeover ”
We booked it to be near Shinhotaka ropeway station. The breakfast and dinner (optional) were reasonable and adequate. Service staff attentive. The rooms are huge and in room onsen a high point. They don't have a common onsen. Rooms are ch lean but not immaculately so. Some common areas like viewing balcony rather neglected. Not the usual Japanese attention to detail which we have experienced.

Good”
The hotel room is large and there is a private onsen. The Hida beef dinner is delicious but the other food choices is not much for the buffet.
