Love this place”
My family and I spent 3D 2N at Kazeya. It is quite a distance from the city(Takayama), this location is best for a group with a rental vehicle. There isn't much room for them (only 10-12 rooms). The room is large and comfortable in the Ryukan style. Both public and private onzen are available (indoor and outdoor). Dinner and breakfast are both good. Additionally, a drink vending machine is available. The receptionists are kind and good in English. It would be challenging if you had two or three large bags to carry up to the second floor on your own (if you have a room on 2nd floor like me). I still enjoy this area, by the way.

Charming Kazeya”
We felt really welcome and at home. Staff is lovely. Typical Japanese food, always fresh. We enjoyed our room with private onsen, the private onsen and public onsen, especially during the rainy day. 1h drive from Takayama. We recommend this Kazeya! Thank you for your hospitality.

Nice Traditonal Ryokan”
My husband and I stayed there for one night before heading to Shirakawago the next day. It’s a lovely traditional ryokan feeling homey and cozy, tucked away in the mountain with amazing surroundings! We were so pleased to find a small onsen outside the room which we enjoyed so much! The downside is it took one and half hours on the bus from Takayama bus terminal costing JPY2000ish per person one way so it’d be JPY8000+ on top taking three hours of your time on the bus. Not recommended if you have a tight schedule like us. Also we paid JYP5000 each extra to have the hida beef 12 course kaiseki menu. It was set in private dining room, quiet and peaceful. Being big foodies like me and my husband, we found the first few courses absolutely delicious including the Hida beef, but my serve of the cuts were uneven with two slices very thin comparing to my husband’s, not the precision you after in Japanese cuisine. I’m afraid the last three courses were very disappointing being a bowl of rice, a miso soup (only soup) and a scoop of vanilla ice cream as dessert. After those wonderful courses, you were not expecting to have a single scoop of ice cream as dessert to finish your meal. They could do better. Other than that, we did find a few bugs in the corridor and on staircases, you just got to watch your steps when walking around. The walls are thin that we could hear our neighbors’ movement. Luckily they did not sleep too late so we ok. Indeed it’s a lovely Ryokan with good atmosphere but with room for improvement.

A tranquil ryokan with a touch of the old days”
I fell in love with this place at first sight. Though rather isolated with no shops or any attraction nearby except for the ropeway which is about 15 mins away by bus, the wooden structure of this ryokan, from floor to ceiling, gives such a calm and relaxing atmosphere and makes me not want anything else. I especially love the onsen, both public and private ones. The host is kind and really helpful. I was kept informed of the road conditions (I was there in mid-December) and asked about the meal. and etc. The room is large with nice tatami floor and the view of the hotel garden. If you seek tranquility, this is definitely the place.

Excellent! Away from crowds, cozy, biiiig rooms.”
Excellent place to be away from the crowds and many attractions close by. The bus is very convenient, limited in times, but it is a matter of organization. I highly recommend for relaxation and hiking. The private onsen was nice, I was a little disappointed with the lack of 'great views' but it was relaxing and great to be able to share with your partner. The public onsen in the hotel was a little cold for my taste, but beautiful natural surroundings. The public areas, the room, the decoration was so nice and cozy. Food is highly recommended although portions may be small for a big eater. I highly recommend this place, no doubt I would be back. Staff, very welcoming and accommodating with all our questions.

Exceptional Ryokan and Japanese service mind”
I really enjoyed staying here. My room is huge. I really love the private outdoor onsen with snow outside. Its very exceptional view. The dinner with Hida main dish was tlreally awesome. The hida beef was so soft and well cooked. Only one thing that I want more in the room is the heater inside the bedroom. Overall was super great experience!

Onsen ”
Private onsen was the best thing overall. The public one was also great, coz they have limited number of rooms in the ryokan, there is always a quiet and relax atmosphere around. But we would only suggest this place to people who drive. Public transport is not very convienient, but that is what uou are looking for if u would like to find a private place.

Nice traditional ryokan with hospitality from the owner”
Ryokan is managed by local Japanese owner, very traditional and warned. Food was so impressed especially hida beef but must order extra (recommenced to try). They also have private onsen bath in room that was amazing, and public as well. Ryokan was not far from bus station, just only a few minutes walkway. Overall was impressed & great time to stay.

Excellent service”
Initially was given a room with faulty toilet and odd smell. Within an hour, our room was changed and everything was well. Breakfast and dinner were sumptuous and we were well-served and taken care off.

Free & Easy Self-Drive”
Accessibility not that simple if you're not doing a self-drive. Near the ropeway and convenient rest stop. Food is somewhat fusion .. but beef was smothered with bbq sauce which was a little disappointing. Quality of food is good overall. Staff is helpful. Onsen options are very nice :-)

Low price option”
I think the price is attractive mainly due to remote location as well as bug problem. The bug is scaring indeed, please make sure you are okay with insects before picking it. The dinner and breakfast are okay but not impressive. Nice staff and great service!
