My family went to Kansai in a group of 11 people in Feb and we stayed at Kyomachiya Shogoin for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time there and we definitely will choose Kyomachiya Shogoin if we will ever visit Kyoto again. The place looked exactly the same as shown in the photos of the website. It’s a newly renovated 2-storey house with traditional Japanese interiors. Everything was neat and clean, also very homey and comfy. The kitchen was well-equipped. We made breakfast there every morning. We also managed to have a hotpot dinner there. A big supermarket is in a 10-min walking distance, where you can get everything you need for breakfast or dinner. The place is located in a quiet residential area. Although it is not centrally located at the sight-seeing places, we didn’t find any problem in travelling around Kyoto. There is a bus stop in about 5-min walk. The buses can get you to the major locations (e.g. Gion, Kiyomizu, Kyoto JR station, etc.) very conveniently. The owner of the place was very nice. He can speak English so you will definitely find no problem communicating with him. One of my family members was sick during the stay. The owner was very helpful that he drove us to the hospital and helped translating for us and the doctor. One downside of this place is that there are only 1 bathroom and 2 toilets. For us, as we usually back to the place not too late at night, we had more than enough time to take turns for shower. So, this is not a big problem to us.

I enjoyed my time at the hotel thoroughly. There was 6 of us, but the house could easily sleep 10 adults. Despite the house being quite old, it was old in a good way, with character. And all th eappliances were modern: air conditioners, wireless internet, new bathroom and the 2 toilets with the japanese washlets. My father liked it so much he wanted to stay in the house rather than go out and visit the city. Hence we cooked dinner both nights we were there (a supermarket is nearby). The owner was great too, spoke very good english and was very helpful. Its quite far from Kyoto Station so it could take some time using public transportation, but still its not that far from the main road so you can easily find a taxi or take the bus.

It is a great place to stay in Kyoto with family and friends. Bikes available. Nice kitchen and bathroom. Nice gardens in the place. No beds but good futons.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house is in a great location, bike ride or walk from most of the old part of town. It was very clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. The host is very nice and helpful.

Traditional Japanese Home”

We stay here for 4 nights. We like the typical japanese home like house as hotel because it has full and complete cooking facilities and washing machine which met our requirement as a family group. The breakfast time and time before bed are good for socialising while gathering in the kitchen for coffee or beer amougst us

滿意的京町屋住宿”

一行11人包含老人及小孩, 入門後全部人均讚不絕口, 唯一缺點只能說是交通不是那麼方便, 但以低廉價錢及全家可以住在120年的京町屋內渡過3晚, 什麼都值了, 如租客要前往, 在京都車站坐206號巴士, 在熊神社站下車, 步行6分鐘左右就到,還算可接受.

교토에 몇 년간 산 적이 있어요. 그때, 골목골목 보이는 교토의 오래된 집에서 지내보는 것이 로망이었는데 그 기분을 충분히 만끽할 수 있었습니다. 정말 집 한 채를 다 쓸 수 있다는 것인지, 사진이나 설명이 과장 된 것은 아닌지 반신반의 하며 도착했는데 정보로 보았던 것 이상이었습니다. 넓은 공간에, 집 안 구석구석 너무나 깨끗하고 지내는 동안 불편함 없이 지낼 수 있도록 모든 것이 구비되어 있었습니다. 현관 입구와 집 안의 작은 정원, 햇빛을 집 안으로 한 줌 내려주는 지붕 , 2층 침실 옆 테라스와 창살 사이로 들어오는 빛 등, 아름다운 모습이 많은 집입니다. 사장님 내외께서도 무척이나 친절하셨습니다. 여유롭게 체크아웃 할 수 있도록 배려해 주시고, 떠나는 날 택시까지 불러주셨네요. 신경써주신 덕분에 편히 여행을 할 수 있었습니다. 나 혼자만 알고 싶기도 하면서, 많은 사람들이 이 좋은 집을 경험해 주었으면 하기도 하네요. 다음에 교토에 올 때 꼭 다시 찾아오고 싶습니다.

住宿地方干净整洁，设施完整，可以洗衣烘衣，也可以自己做饭，完全适合举家旅行。 屋主人提供了自行车，可以骑出去逛京都。最后退房时还用车送到了车站。非常好！

超出预期的入住体验，房子虽然有上百年了，但保养非常好，干净而且设备齐全，出门坐车也很方便。房东夫妇热情有礼，让我们有宾至如归的感觉，离开时房东主动开车送我们一家人到京都站，实在太温暖了，真心感谢！下次来京都还会选择住这里，有朋友来京都也会强烈推荐的。

休闲的京都三日”

京都三日都住这，交通还算方便，从丸太町站往京都医学院方向走，过个十字路口，步行约八分钟左右吧，属于京都民居，老板有几栋这样的房子，就开始做旅馆，有免费自行车、厨房里可以开火，餐具、炊具一应俱全、还有带烘干的洗衣机、咖啡机，很方便
