Excellent location and super clean”
The accommodation is located quite close to Gion. The bus stops are within 200 metres away. This allowed us to take Bus 100 (Raku) to Ginkaku-ji Temple, Bus 102 from there to Kinkaku-ji Temple and return via Kyoto station. We were able to find very good restaurants in the vicinity.for most of our meals. The upper floor had the bedroom and a small adjacent storage room. The ground floor had a small living room, kitchen area (sink, refrigerator and kettle only), toilet, washbasin, and shower with bath. Everything was absolutely clean and wi fi worked fine. Great stay. Highly recommended. It was a bit difficult to locate NAGOMI even when we were standing just outside it so we had to ask someone. Some kind of sign at the entrance will really help (on the main road, Higashi Oji Dori, the Higashimaya Fire Department building is a good landmark as NAGOMI is just 40-50 metres from there on the side road).

Great place with incredible price!”
The hotel itself doesn’t have any staff and may difficult to some who is not familiar with navigating. At my stay I saw a couple of European walking pass the front door 3 times so that I have to ask whether they were looking for ‘the Nagomi’. The front door look just like the neighbourhood area with a very small sign said that it’s a hotel. However, when you get inside it was just fantastic!!! You’ll get just like the whole apartment for a price of just a room. The capacity is fit for just about 5 people, not just 2. However, the door lock was quite difficult to handle, but still okey in the end. There’s only 4 rooms in the hotel. I would recommend ‘the moon’ which has a very nice garden inside. Definitely gonna stay here again for sure!!!

Beautiful”
This very rustic property, beautifully newly renovated with modern yet classic interior, is located within walking distance of Kyoto’s most beautiful temples (eg Kiyomizu-dera). It’s two storey layout provides ample space in a very compact footprint, hidden away in a quiet side street. It’s the perfect starting point for an exploration walk leading you into the famous Gion district. Can easily be reached from Kyoto central station with one stop on metro, or a short ride by taxi. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Exceptional”
Wonderful location and a lovely two story traditional style room with an excellent bath, eating space and toilet downstairs and sleeping upstairs in very comfortable western style beds. You can also sleep on a futon on the tatami floor if you like. We could easily walk to all the local temples (close to Kiyomizu Temple) and enjoy Gion. A short walk to a nearby train line takes you a few stops to Fushimi-Inari. Lots of great backstreet shops and eateries to encounter. Not easy for our cab driver to find when we arrived but very close to the Higashiyama Police Station. Had to work out that the touch screen lock on the door of our room needed to be activated by more than just one finger (palm of the hand works!). There are no staff on hand (aside from daily cleaning) but everything is well explained and easy to use and great commmunication before arriving. Would gladly stay here again.

Super Accommodations!”
What a great machiya. Very spacious, extremely clean. Great location although wish it was a tad closer to a subway. Very close to the bus stop though so I guess you can't have everything. :) We loved this place - was definitely the best accommodations we had during our two week/5 city trip. Would not hesitate to recommend it - the bath especially was amazing and very relaxing after a long day of walking around and sightseeing.

Good hotel”
I love this hotel, if you want to have japanese style life in short time, this hotel is best choose. the room is like Japanese house. there won't have any stuff except the people clean your room. the only reason, I can't give 5 stars, it because the wifi doesn't work in first day and the door battery was low and block, get lock outside with Kyoto hot weather wasn't good thing. I had to call 2 times to get things fixed ( they fix very fast). Except those 2 things, everything is wonderful. :)

Truly charming and unique”
Our stay could not have been more pleasant. It was our first time in Kyoto, so we weren't really sure of the difference between the neighborhoods, and this was definitely a quieter part of town, though not too far a walk from the major sites. A little far from the train station, but still a quick cab ride. Having the extra living room and kitchen, extra large bath tub, and the second floor bedroom was helpful for our jet lagged sleeping schedules. There was also plenty of storage for our suitcases (and shopping!). Looking forward to staying here again.

Boom this place!”
This place is utterly fantastic. We only stayed for two nights but after a pokey hotel room in Tokyo this was a welcome change! It felt really authentic but modern at the same time. Great location to explore Kyoto. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The location is close to Kiyomizu temple but the cleanliness is NOT up to Japanese”
We’re traveling to Kyoto to see the Sakura blossom, the hotel is quite convenient just 2 min away from bus station. The neighborhood itself is quiet at night but convenient store/supermarket is 5 min away. I’d really consider this as Airbnb and not a hotel cuz the house keeping is not up to Japanese standards. On the very first day we moved in , before we use the bathroom, we immediately found a pile of hair sticking on the wall, we send message to the hotel informing this uncomfortable situation hoping the cleaning lady’s gonna make up the next day, however, when we come back from touring the next day , we received an apology note from the hotel on the incident promising improvement on their staff training, BUT when we checked the bathroom again, the pile of hair remains same place, meaning the lady didn’t wash the bathroom. I’d recommend this to a friend because of the price and location but just don’t use their tub unless you’re willing to scrub it before use.

Excellent!!! Traditional yet modern ”
This Ryokan was amazing, traditional + modern and felt very true to Japanese style architecture. The 2 level apartment was comfortable with a small private garden. The place was better than what we had expected. We just wish we could have had more people come experience the place with us bc it was large enough for an entire family. Staying in this Ryokan was a nice bonus for our second trip to Kyoto.

I LOVE this place ”
Absolutely gorgeous! I stayed only one night in 「鳥(BIRD)」but I really wished I could stay for the rest of my life. The photos don't do it justice. When you step through the door, you feel you're stepping into beauty. The air has a lovely wood smell. Every room is spotless. I just can't recommend this place enough.

Our stay in Kyoto”
Nice place to stay in Kyoto. Quiet and very clean the ryokan was perfect for our friend band. It's spacious, fully equiped and the bathroom is particulary nice. Our only comment can be that the wifi doesn't work well in the first floor. We recommand this place without hesitation. AS

Awesome stay ”
We spent one night here and the loft style is quite impressive. Room is pretty spacious and clean. The facilities are very handy and in good condition. The self- checkin and self-checkout service are special but also have an disadvantage. If you come here with luggages and will do sightseeing on the other day, you must consider how to manage your luggages as there are no counter and receptionist to take care of your stuff. This is quite inconvenient actually. It would be better the hotel can prepare some lockers in the lobby to let clients to store their baggages temporarily. Except this point, I still love here so much and already recommended my friends to stay here.

Fantastic expierence”
First time review, I never expected this room to be soooooo great! Every room is basically a whole house with 2 floors. The furniture is almost brand new and well maintained. I love the house very much.

Dun get mix up Kyoto Machiyo Inn & Kyoto Machiyo Nagomi”
When I try to Google Kyoto Machiyo ..... the first one the appears on screen is Inn instead of Nagomi. I have a hard time walking around the ‘Inn’ area searching for my ‘Bird’ unit & call to their contact number proves to be useless as they can’t really understand English. However, once we found the place, it’s good review all the way. Clean, nice, comfortable! Thumbs up!

Excellent with a small BUT”
Everything was perfect - living in a traditional Japanese wooden house. All authentic design, clean, nice and fresh. No one at reception (we just received the PIN code from the door and that is all) but this is positive as you kinda live in a normal house rather then stay in a guesthouse with traditional reception, check in, check out etc. Clean traditional furniture, all brand new equipment (aircons, air cleaner, dimmable and multi-colored lights, TV, Water heaters, bathroom, toiler machine etc. No cooking facilities except electric hot water pot - great way to keep going with sashimi and tea dinners. A small BUT relates to Wi Fi which did not work at all - we could see several signals were visible on our 4 Apple devices, however we had a great difficulty to connect. In the end after manty trials we got on 1 device only (and only while sitting exactly on 4th step of the stairs - it did not connect anywhere else!!). This WiFi connection issue continued during 4 days of our stay. Despite our daily requests, 2 conversations with cleaning staff (no English) and 2 phone conversations (in broken English) with a manager - WiFi issue was not fixed at all. Ridiculous challenge and service issue in my book.

This is a gorgeous place in a great location - 15-minute walk up to Kiyomizudera. The place is clean & well-maintained & many pleasant amenities included in the room. Not cheap but wonderful experience.
