Nice location with very nice and quiet surroundings”
The location for Kyoto Tsukiusagi was just perfect as it was surrounded by beautiful sceneries. Additionally, you can tell the facilities are being cared for everyday by very (like extremely) kind staffs there as it is super clean even though it was a shared space. One thing to note is that you should bring your own toothbrush as they offer it at around 100¥-200¥. Also take some time to walk to other stations other than Ishida, you won't regret it!

Excellent”
I really like this place. It is very clean and well maintaned. Everything in this place is clean. A very relaxing place to stay as the place is very quiet. The place is a bit far from kyoto city though. What stood up the most about this place is the staff . All of them are very nice and accomodating. Thumbs up kyoto tsukiusagi!

quite perfect, the best value-for-money place I've ever stayed”
(1) the walls are thin, the hostel has a lot of rules in order to maintain a nice environment for all, thus, the cooperation of other travelers are of utmost importance - I stayed for three nights, it was perfect for the first two nights, then on my third night, I was practically SURROUNDED by a group of travelers who TALKED and SANG and WATCHED VIDEOS WITH SPEAKERPHONES both late at night and early in the morning, it was quite horrible, but it's not the hostel's fault (2) the location is far, you have to bear that in mind (30 minutes ride on subway from Kyoto Station), thus the price is so value-for-money (3) I got to explore an extremely residential area in Kyoto, which I took it as an added bonus (4) the outdoor bath is a godsend for my tired feet - HOWEVER, I would appreciate it much more if there is a lock to the main door of the outdoor bath (or, at least, kindly put up blinds behind the door, to avoid anyone any embarrassment when someone opens the door by mistake)

A quiet place in Ishida”
This place is not in central Kyoto but that’s what I love about it. It’s right by Ishida station that has access to all other stations in Kyoto, so traveling from A to B was not an issue at all. Please note that when you get off Ishida station, go to exit 2. From there, it is a left and a straight walk for about 2-3 minutes and it’s literally in front of you. Watch out for the logo because there is no big signage. It’s close to a family mart and pharmacy. The place is European style minimalist. It reminds me of IKEA for some reason. The entire place is so clean and organized you almost feel bad using the facilities. The room we got was good for 2 people and it was a bunk bed, but it’s much bigger than a regular one. It has a mirror and a small wooden shelf right across on the wall and some type of minimalist closet right by the door for your backpack or luggage. If you have a giant rolling luggage you might struggle in this room because there isn’t much space.

Exceptional”
Although it is not in the Kyoto city, it's a good place to stay if you want to go to Uchi or some other interesting places nearby. Not far from the metro station. A good supermarket also near the place. The room is clean and comfortable. Also has free tea in the fridge. Good open space. The staff are friendly. The price of the place is very nice. Good experience.

Satisfying Place to Stay”
I had a satisfied experience with this hotel. A cozy, clean, calm place to stay. The building is well maintained and they provide many things for their customers, like umbrella, bike and the kitchen is very organized. The staff is very friendly and helpful. And the location is very near to ishida subway station. Im gonna stay here again for my next kyoto holiday.

We love everything about the hotel. The location, easy to access from Kyoto Station”
The location is a bit far from Kyoto Station (around 20 mins), and you need to transfer once. From JR Kyoto Station, take JR Rokujozi, and transfer to subway Ishida station. Take exit 2, walk left and you find the hotel on your left.

THE BEST BARGAIN IN KYOTO”
Place was clean, staff was amazing. People who smoke may find it cumbersome but, it's all good. Guests need to clean up after themselves and trash needs to be properly cleaned and separated. Very good outdoor hot bath as well. 😍 The staff went the extra mile in helping to keep my item that was left behind after I checked out. I returned to Kyoto after 4 days to retrieve the items and they were all smiles and supportive. 10/10 would definitely stay again. Less than 5 mins walk from Ishida Station and there's a great cafe right opposite with awesome food.

Super clean, excellent facilities, best value for money!”
We traveled all over Japan for a month and stayed in all kinds of accommodation. This one was voted by my family of four as the best value for money. We enjoyed our nightly bath, loved the kitchen, felt so comfortable with the super clean facilities and really appreciated the fieldly, helpful staff. Would recommend this to anyone! The location is not Kyoto central but we didn't mind. It was convenient to travel by subway and quite fun to explore around the area on foot or bike. Lots of shops, restaurants and supermarket nearby. It felt like a home away from home.

Lovely guesthouse and staff!!”
The staff were all super friendly, the rooms are small but really comfortable and there was plenty of space for the two of us. The train station is about a 15 minute walk away and from there its really easy to get to places like Kyoto and Inari. There's heaps of food around and a family mart just down the road for snacks and cheap groceries! Over all we had a really great stay

Outstanding! Ideal for solo or two people.”
Extraordinarily well designed, managed and maintained. I don't want to write more but I assure you won't regret staying there, in terms of its interior and facilities. Located in a quiet setting of Kyoto but reasonably convenient. A convenience store and a few restaurants nearby. 2min walk from subway station, which is one stop from the nearest JR station (if you use JR pass) and a 15min walk if you don't want to take a one-stop subway. Stayed a week and enjoyed it.

Price are fantastic cheap ”
I love to stay in this hotel close to subway station but lil bit far from the hustle of Kyoto, at night you’ll don’t get any experience on the surrounding. Btw they have an open air bath tube but unfortunately last time I went there it’s still broken lol

Exceptional”
Take 20 minutes from nearest ishida station to kyoto station and from there, easily access to all attraction spots. (not big concern because we used subway and bus pass) Clean and quiet room. Has a 7-11 nearby. Overall had a pleasant stay there

If you have a big luggage > remember not to take JR line cus its around 1.5-2 km from JR line. Bring your ear plug cus your mate may noisy. Familymart is near buy! Kitchen for cook. Good!

Mixed Experience”
I stayed here so long ago, but my memories of it are so vivid. The good points: A kotatsu is upstairs, and the hostel is minutes away from a station, The bad points: The futons are meh. I slept terribly here. I would always wake up with a sore back. A peeping tom got arrested here because the women's bathroom doesn't really have a secure door. Anyone can just walk in there and take photos or video of people showering . . . GAH. I even realized this the first time when I went upstairs towards my room. It's a better idea to have a door and for women to have a card key to access the bathroom. I was helped the first time by one of the female workers with my luggage. However, at the end of my stay, the male worker that was there on my last day didn't want to help me. I asked politely, but he rejected. He seemed busy, but it wasn't going to take that long, I swear, to help me with my luggage. Instead, I asked a male guest to help me and he did kindly. It took him less than 30 seconds to get my largest bag down. If you do come to this hostel and want to explore Kyoto, just buy the bus pass. It's cheaper despite it being a little more time consuming. Have fun at Arashiyama and go to Kiyomizu Dera.
