Mimaru Kyoto Horikawa Rokkaku was perfect for my needs. I was in Kyoto for two weeks and didn't want the hassle of relocating. This was also my first time in Kyoto so this was perfect for me. 1. I traveled with one piece of luggage. And the laundry facilities (with both dryer and a drying rack) in my room was perfect for 13 days in Kyoto. 2. The kitchenette came with Microwave, Toaster and Stovetop with a overhead ventilation hood - which was great for all kinds of meals. All the utensils were present for cooking, eating and cleaning. 3. Location was in a quite place. Which was great for me. But I had easy access to Kyoto train station via a 10-15mins bus ride and was within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, shopping and subway stations. It was also easy distance to Kamo river for morning runs. 4. I had the Japanese style apartment and the futons and tatami mats were great. Towels were replaced every day and trash was emptied daily. 5. Staff was always available and very helpful. I had several requests which were met professionally and very quickly. They also knew how not to be obtrusive or overly social/ friendly. I always felt welcome and yet had sufficient privacy.

Warmest Stay ever with Super Friendly Front Desk Staff”
Definitely the warmest hotel staying experience my family and I ever had with a team of helpful and friendly hotel front desk staff. I booked a Family Room for 2 nights stay at MIMARU Kyoto HORIKAWAROKKAKU. The hotel located at a strategic location with less than 2 minutes walk to a bus stop where you can travel to city center and attractions spot like Gion, Kyoto Kawaramachi and etc. My utmost gratitude towards the time and effort front desk staff spent for the arrangement on giving a surprise for my parent’s wedding anniversary. I never thought that you guys would make it happen as my request came quite last minutes until I saw the flower bouquet and Kyoto traditional cakes when I open the room door. Highly appreciate front desk staff team especially Louis and Maya for providing a lot of insights and great information on Kyoto travel & recommended food. The family room is large enough to fit 5 guests with 2 single beds + 1 bunk bed + 1 sofa bed. Toilet and bathroom are separated with washing machine available. In overall, it was a wonderful stay at here and my family and I would definitely come back again when travel to Kyoto in near future. Highly recommend!

Best hotel i've ever stayed in”
Very spacious and huge rooms. Good quality amenities. Each bed was equipped with a personal reading light and USB ports to charge batteries. The pillows, beds and sheets were soft and clean. The toilets were very big with a bathtub and rain shower. Very good service by the staff!!! Staff would come to change out dirty towels and clear the trash bins every day. They were very friendly and greeted us every morning and night at the lobby which made us very happy. Location was quite good. 2 convenience stores and a police station nearby. Very near Nijo-jo. Bus routes at the bus stop were very convenient to reach where we wanted to go. Overall I could not ask for a better hotel. Highly recommend to book this hotel!!!

We stayed in 3 different Mimaru during our recent trip, 1 in Kyoto and 2 in Tokyo. All 3 were great for us family travellers with young children. Mimaru Kyoto Horikawa Rokkaku provides washing machine cum dryer within the hotel room which was really great and brings convenience. Thank you for all the help rendered to us and the warm hospitality. The only thing for us family travellers was, we take cab to and fro from kyoto station as bus was hard for us with stroller in tow. Otherwise, no issues with taking bus to and fro. :)

A little bit small ….., we have chosen the Japanese suite, especially the bed size .unfortunately there is no BS channels and no Netflix…. Etc. Staff were great , all foreigners could speak English and Japanese . Parking lot is nearby ….and it expensive. Hotel room , toilet and bathroom was very clean . There are kitchen and have all well-equipped utensils…..! So far was great:)

Beautiful hotel, had an amazing experience”
The hotel is located about a 10-15 min bus ride from Kyoto station and situated very close to the bus stops. It's got a very different look from the surrounding buildings so it's pretty easy to find even when you're a couple blocks away. Our room was huge for a Japanese hotel and everything was very clean. We booked the Japanese Deluxe 5 suite and the 5 of us had plenty of room to sprawl out. Our room (especially the bathroom) was beautiful with modern equipment (including a washer/dryer)! The smartphone gadget that came with the room was a very thoughtful amenity, although I did not use it very much. The staff seemed to be very fluent in English and were extremely helpful and professional. Our group had a wonderful experience at Mimaru and I highly recommend staying here you are in Kyoto!

Amazing hotel, amazing staff”
The location is probably 15 minutes walk from the train station, or in my case, 30 minutes since I was traveling in a group of 6 adults and 1 toddler. Upon arrival to the closest JR station, Nijo, Google map was a little inaccurate as it leads us to a beaten path where as we can opted to walk through the day market (Sanjo Dori Street). The staff speak English fluently so we do not have difficulty communicating with them. The hotel was really spacious, clean and comfortable that we decided to extend our stay! The staff were also very accommodating for letting us stay in the same room. I would definitely come back to Mimaru Kyoto whenever I got the chance to visit again. It's walking distance to Nijo Castle, and there are tons of good food in the area (Sanjo Dori street also have a few nice restaurants at night). P.S. although Nishiki market seems to be just a couple of blocks away, it is farther than expected and thus, my family were exhausted. :)

Great option in Kyoto”
As a family we weathered typhoon Trami here. Staff warned us about impending typhoon & checked on our welfare when we ventured out afterwards. Rooms fantastic! plenty of room for family of 4 with 2 teenagers, great facilities for cooking in room if you wanted to. Maybe a little far from downtown but covered market Sanjo literally across the road is awesome. Price was great too. Can't say enough good things about Mimaru

Excellent hotel, great value for money !”
We stayed here for 2 nights in the apartment room. The location of this property is excellent and is just a short walk from convenience stores and Nishiki Market. The rooms looked almost brand new and was extremely spacious. It also boasts a full kitchen, microwave and washing machine. The highlight for us was the bath tub equipped with a modern system which automatically fills itself so that you can enjoy a nice warm bath after a long day of exploring the sights of Kyoto. Overall an extremely enjoyable stay. We would definitely recommend this property for those looking for a place to unwind after a long day.

Huge room and beds. Cooking and washing facilities. Everything feels brand new and of a high standard. Large bathroom with deep bath. Bus stop right outside going to station. Easy to walk to most of Kyoto and very close to the castle that’s a must in Kyoto. Helpful staff with excellent English. Highly recommend.

Solid family hotel”
We like the Mimaru chain for traveling as a family. The largest rooms we have found and with 2 beds futon & 2 western, it caters for all. The staff are lovely and professional. The kitchen was welcomed and we were able to heat and eat food easily, however the sliding screen between the fridge and the wardrobe was very annoying. The location is on a main road, we had no noise, which was wonderful, and a bus stop nearby, however it's a long walk to any of the main sights. We recommend the bus pass, though they were consistently crowded. Taking a taxi on arrival & departure with luggage is definitely a sound recommendation. The wash/dry laundry machine in the room was brilliant.

We spent 1 night at Mimaru and found the room to be very spacious (for Japan standards) and it seemed as though we were amongst the first people to actually sleep in it as the hotel is brand new. Staff were very nice and location was perfect: close to Nishiki market and other touristic attractions.

Loved the stay. Wished we stayed here more than 1 night! Front desk was very pleasant and helpful. The apartment was spacious and easily accommodated 5 adults. It was nice and convenient to have a washer/dryer in the apt...even detergent for 2 loads of laundry! The bathroom was modern and spacious. Good location. We were also able to store our luggage for the day so we could enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto. Definitely would stay here again!.
