We absolutely loved our stay with Mitsui Garden Hotel Sanjo. First, the staff were so accommodating, nice, fantastic, and very friendly. They helped us ship our luggage to Tokyo after we checked out. Breakfast was AMAZING everyday, we kept wondering how it was free. A great Japanese selection breakfast that we never got tired of. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the pajama robes given for each of us felt so nice. The biggest plus we didn’t know about was their public bathhouse! We soaked in the bath everyday, which really was the only reason we were able to get up and walk even more the next day. Facilities were so clean. The only thing is the location could be a tiny bit out of the way. Having to transfer from Kyoto to Karasuma Oike station and climb those 4 flight of stairs from exit 6 sucked at the end of the day. Still, highly highly recommend.

Great location, good price for spacious room”
It was super near the subway station and the station was easy to connect to to spots we went e.g. Tofukuji, Arashiyama. We were also able to walk easily to Nishiki market and shopping street at sanjo-dori. The triple room we got was spacious and we could use the communal hotbath. It was an ideal hotel for us.

In the middle of all the touristic spots. If you really want to have the best experience of the city, this is the place to stay! Right next to the subway station that goes to all around the city. Just 3 stations away from the main Kyoto Station. Easy access, great and kind staffs. A really Kyoto hotel experience. Amazing.

Great time in this hotel with family. However, wish any chairs at dressing room for the public hot tub. My mother (76 years old )needed a chair to sit comfortably after taking bath. Anyway, thank your great hospitality. We will be back.

We went family of 4, with age 6/9. The room is so much bigger than I thought. Things are not fancy but it has everything you need. And there is public bath downstairs we went down every night! I’ll for sure stay at their group again.

Like the reception garden ambience, it's an old hotel bed abit hard and pillow is too flats. But the hospitality and environment is good. The staff will wish you and smile when meet us, which let us feel welcome. I request the pillows to be change as it is too flats I not used to it. The receptionist offer to add one pillow for each of us as there is no taller pillow to change. Overall the location is good, near to subway station. Staff is friendly. Cleanliness is acceptable.

The location and the staff are great. But the room isn't nice. The decor is a bit outdated, wallpaper is started peeling and room is quite small. The public bath isn't so clean. You can stay at other hotel for half the price.

This hotel is old and dirty. Photos are not reality. Beds are hard. There are much better options for less money in Kyoto. Disappointed by this Mitsui Hotel. You have been warned. I checked out after 1st night and went to different hotel.
