This Hostel is an amazing deal and the people that work there are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgable about the area. I would Highly recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to Nagano. Also, the sleeping arrangements are quite comfortable and the actual hostel is a very quaint traditional building, which only adds to the overall charm. Will definitely stay again if I return to Nagano (which I probably will, even if only to get more Soba).

This hostel is a very close walk to Nagano Station. It had a homey feel to it, not not a proper hotel, it was really nice. The owner was very friendly, though he English was not great, she tried very hard to make sure everything was ok and even tried to have a bit of conversation. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap place to crash while in Nagano.

This has probably been the best hostel I've stayed ar so far this time in Japan. The staff are really friendly, accomodating and make you feel at home. And I truly mean that. I've stayed at dozens of Hostels in Japan. However I have two complaints. My major complaint is that the AC in the room is just not strong enough to deal with the summer heat in a fully booked dormitory room. They do provide you with a small fan for your besd but this isn't enough for me. Second, the rules for this hostel seem a bit strict. I can be a bit of a night owl sometimes and I would like to be able to stay in the common room using my phone late at night while not making any noise. That isn't allowed here...

We had a great stay at the Sunroute hotel. The staff were great, the hotel was really clean and the location was amazing. It's a 2 minute walk from the JR station if you take the Mi Do Ri bridge exit (grabbing some amazing food on the way through!) and everywhere around Nagano is really accessible from this hotel. If I had another decision to make with hotels in Nagano, this would definitely be top of the list.

Hotel is clean and comfort, wifi is really high speed. Room is equipped with all necessary equipment which you do not need to bring anything e.g. Shampoo and conditioner, bath soap, toothbrush etc. The hotel is very close to Nagano station and bus station where you can walk around 5 minutes and there is one Starbuck nearby. You can easily connect the bus to see snow monkey.

The hotel has really good location and very easy to find. Price is considered okay not very cheap. Can easily hear noise from nearby rooms or corridor. Though it's not my major concern. Hotel provides breakfast, which considered slightly better than normal b&b hostel. You can keep bags there. Staff are polite and good with their service. Toilet is clean. My room has the residual smoke smell, but it's common in Japan. Considering I booked the last room available for that day, I could not complain that. But it's better to state the room is smoking rooms. Overall experience is good.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Hotel was comfortable, safe and secure. Had everything you could need. No in-room safe but I had no issues. They did have loads of amenities at the front desk - Spare toothbrush, tea, coffee etc. Just help yourself. Room had everything you could need. Desk, table, TV, Radio, alarm, phone, great shower and bidet toilet. Room was very clean unless you checked under the bed. Location was perfect for my needs as I was visiting friends living nearby but bars and shops were just a 5-10 mins walk and train station about 15. 7/11 convenience store 2 minutes walk away and open late. I was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay again.

The hotel is just in front of the Nagano train station and bus terminal, which is very convenient. Many convenient stores and restaurant around the hotel. The room itself is quite spacious and fully equipped with air conditioner and hair dryer. The toilet is clean and has amenities. A few down things are -Laundry... No obvious coin washing machine and dryer in the building. It said in the paper staff handed during check in that " to contact the staff if need to wash clothes". -The electric outlet is quite hard to find. Two are hidden below the desk and two are at the side of the TV table.

This was my second stay for another 3 nights. Would recommend booking the Superior Twin Room. Very much bigger at 30 sq m. Worth the extra $$. Very reasonable price for the quality of sleep you get. A real 4=-star hotel. Very convenient to book tickets for outstation. The Apico Highway bus office is just opposite. Booked my ticket to Togakushi Shrine (must do) Buy the Togakushi Travel Pass which comes with a free ride to the famous Nagano famous (Zenkoiji). The walk back is all doiwn hill for 1,8m. Yopu can also buy tickets from here to Takayama, Matsumoto and Kamijkochi. At the East Gate of the Nagano Station, you can take buses to the surrounding ski resorts e.g. Happo-One . Or to Omachi or Shinado Omachi Station for the start of the Tateyama Alphine Route (Snow Wall) Will be back again.

The hotel is clearly visible from the Nagano station and only took 3 mins to go there from the station. There is a lift on the bridge which really helps if you're carrying a big luggage with you from Nagano station to the hotel. Room is very spacious and clean. There is 7-eleven just one beside the hotel. Location is great, Room is big, access is easy, It's a 5 stars from me.

I booked 2 rooms for my family of 3 young children. Check-in was efficient and the receptionist even offer me non-smoking rooms upon noticing my kids. There are free amenities and drinks at the lobby. Location of this hotel is close to Nagano Station with many nearby shops and restaurants. The hotel rooms were quite spacious for Japanese standards, very clean and comfortable. The staffs are very helpful and speak good English. My family and I will definitely stay in Chisun Grand Nagano or other affiliate hotels in the future.

This is hands down the best hotel for it’s facilities (onsen, smoking area, and even free breakfast) for a really cheap price! We even got a welcome gift from the staff. The place itself is around 7 mins walk, with a lot of eating places and cafe. Not to mention the places opens until around 4 am. For those who are staying looking for a night out, this place is surely close to it!

Breakfast restaurant on 16F has great view. This could be the best view from the breakfast restaurant among the hotels around Nagano station. I was so satisfied with the menu of the breakfast buffet which includes some of local food like Shinshu Soba and also several dishes can be treated as main menu. The hotel is bit far from the station compare with others, but the clean facility and great breakfast are enough to stay here again definitely.

This was my second ryokan stay and like the first it was brilliant. The owners are lovely and whilst their English wasn't great it was easy to communicate with them. The onsen was not as large as others i have visited but it is still a decent sized onsen. The building is a cool old maze of stairs and platforms that give much character. Located half way between the train station and the temple you will have easy access to Nagano.

We stayed 2 nights at this lovely hotel while travelling Japan. Nagano is a lovely smaller town and has many wonderful sights. Those snow capped mountains are everything!! The hotel staff at Nagano Tokyu Rei are delightful & very helpful. The hotel has a smoking room on the 4th floor for those not wanting to stay in a smoking room, but enjoy a cigarette. The hotel room was nice & modern, but a little small compared to other Japanese hotels. Despite this, it is a very affordable & great place to stay. We will definitely stay here again. They have a nice restaurant/brasserie that serves breakfast as well. Thanks for the lovely stay 😀

Probably one of the 2 best hotels in Nagano city. a few good restaurants, comfortable rooms and professional service. Location is good too, 10-15 minutes walk from the famous Zenkoji temple and the same distance from the train station too. I find it better then the metropolitan hotel, which beats this one, only by the location. Was the main hotel, during the Olympic game in 1998

I was in-and-out of Nagano for the day to attend a friend's wedding. I arrived on the Shinkansen at 11:05 and the shuttle for the wedding venue was leaving Nagano Station at 11:30. I was able to walk to the hotel, check in, leave my luggage with the front desk because the room was still occupied, and get back to the shuttle by 11:25. So it is a very convenient location close to the station, and the staff were quick and professional about the check in. Also the room was very nice, the air-conditioning worked, and the bed was comfortable. I definitely recommend Dormy Inn.

the hotel presents a good value and has very clean rooms of reasonable size. free internet access is a definite plus! the only drawback is that the spa (onsen) is for men only ! here, the hotel should make some accommodations for their guests of both genders. the staff was very helpful in giving out printed bus schedules and directions to the next bus stop. it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the bus stop and another 20 minutes of a bus ride to the center of nagano.

Location is good, in about 5 mins walk from train station exit. There're eateries and convenience stores nearby. All staff I had encountered are so friendly, next missed greeting you with a smile, and most spoke reasonable English. Included Buffett breakfast, and considering it's a budget hotel, was quite good, better than some others I used before, with a mix of Japanese and Western choices. There're complimentary drinks from afternoon down the breakfast area. Room was clean and normal budget size and quiet despite my room was facing the main street. The price I paid was very reasonable for this class of hotel and inclusion.

We had a superb experience at the family-run Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan. It is located within the Zenkoji-ko temple grounds so it’s very peaceful. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating especially the grandad who was always at reception. Breakfast was really good homemade Japanese style breakfast that varied everyday that we were there. It takes about 25 mins to walk to Nagano station, bus stop and train station also nearby so perfect base for going around Nagano. The room was very clean and big enough for two travellers with suitcases. We highly recommend this place and we would stay here again next time we visit Nagano.
