Excellent choice for onsen resort when visiting Kyoto ”
The service is outstanding. Our package includes breakfast and kaiseki dinner and they are all served impeccably. The onsen and garden are nice, and you get to explore the very charming town of Ohara when visiting. Transportation is fairly straightforward. Get to Kyoto station and take one bus and it will take you to a station 15 min walk to the beautiful mountaintop onsen hotel. I recommend to pack light or store your big luggage at kyoto station when going here though so that you fully enjoy exploring the surrounding.

Great experience”
We chose the room with private hotspring bath, in which the bath was in the private garden enclosing the room. It was pretty and nice. The food and the staff were great. There are some shops and temples nearby, and please sqeeze some time to visit! The location was a little bit far from the city though. I would recommend this guesthouse to everyone who comes to Kyoto.

Beautiful & serene”
This ryokan was located about an hour outside of central Kyoto by bus but was certainly worth the trip. Staff were extremely nice and friendly - very welcoming to weary travelers! The location was serene with beautifully attended gardens and coi fish pond. The meals (breakfast/dinner) were amazing! Best I had in my travels around Japan. I would recommend this ryokan experience highly.

Beautiful and serene”
We treated ourselves to a night at Seryo to end off our Japan trip and loved it! Their service and hospitality were all top notch right from the beginning (when we were served welcome tea and mochi during check in) to the end (when the owner personally dropped us off at Ohara station the next morning). The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both fantastic. Our room was super comfortable and we both slept deeply on the provided futons. We were also lucky enough to be the only guests there that evening so had our room's private onsen and the public onsen all to ourselves! The facilities are gorgeous and so are the surrounding gardens... it all feels so calm and peaceful compared to the hustle and bustle of the city. I definitely recommend this hotel and would consider coming back - maybe when the weather is cooler as the hot spring water heats you up very fast.

This Ryokan was lovely. The grounds and gardens are set up in the beautiful and quiet mountain area. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing and plentiful! It was beautifully presented. I'd highly recommend this place if you're visiting Kyoto. We had to take a cab there and back, so if you don't have a car, I think the only other option is a bus. The cab ride both ways was a great experience in itself. E found everyone in Japan, to be kind and helpful. Have had an amazing trip!

The inn is family owned and I can see their love and dedication for the place. We stayed in the room Next to their Japanese garden and I listened to the sound of stream all night long. It was such a special experience. The inn is next to Sanzen Inn with must see garden. You can reach to the in by taking Kyoto bus 17 from the center of town. Once arrived, inn keeper could pick you up for 7 min steep uphill ride. I would highly recommend the inn. At the same time, I feel like I want to keep this place my little secret.

Very clean place, even the public shower was really clean. Enjoyed the Kaiseki dinner, got to taste a variety of dishes. The staff were really attentive and helpful. However, I did not feel like it was good value for money. Still an amazing experience overall.

Joyful relaxation”
We stayed two night at Seryo, beautifully curated grounds, tranquil environment, restorative indoor and outdoor hot spring, and the most beautiful Kaiseki meals (both visually and taste-wise). The ryokan is located right outside of Sansen Yin Temple and other temples, which makes visiting the area really accessible. There are wonderful hiking trails and traditional shops/restaurants/desserts. It is a little out of the way from Kyoto city, but it was totally worth it!

Serene and Tranquil - Great Mountain Experience”
The serenity and tranquility of Seryo was only marred by the presence of a toddler that a Japanese family brought along. The little kid was running and thumping around in the room (right next to mine) and ruined the ambience at dinner with his incessant noise. Through no fault of the staff, I blame only inconsiderate parents perhaps. Meals are homely and well presented at Seryo and the view from my room, excellent. It was only after dinner when I was enjoying the view from my room that I decided I had enough of the noise from next door that I called the front desk for help. The noise died down soon after so I was grateful. Driving up to Seryo can be a challenge if you get the set of instructions from Google that leads you to drive up the footpaths. You need to ensure you get the right direction, which I only found when I tracked down the instructions to locate a "Family Mart" and then get google to lead me up from there. BEAUTIFUL PLACE. I would recommend it.

Beautiful, delicious, and friendly”
My stay at the Seryo Ryokan was amazing. I had mixed up my addresses and accidentally walked to a different ryokan nearby, when we figured out what was going on, this place sent someone to come pick me up, which was much appreciated. Both the dinner and breakfast were amazing, with tons and variety. Probably the best food I had in Japan. Walking around their garden was really cool and some of the staff explained to me certain features of the garden. And finally, the onsen was very nice (and I ended up having it to myself when I went in)

We booked the room with attached private onsen - Sakura. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. The food provided is top notch kaiseki with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully. Private onsen view is the most beautiful and relaxing for us.there were many Zen gardens within the hotel beautiful for photo and a stroll. There are many attractions nearby too. Parking is located conveniently behind the hotel. we went there in mid of February and we were lucky to catch the snow! Highly recommend this ryokan. We loved our stay.
