Amazing hotel and location”
Stayed for a week and had a great time. Very friendly and helpful staff. Although the hotel is a bit dated, it's very cosy. The only downside if you do a longer stay is the food - they have too many restaurants (!) - you need to pick a restaurant and book it in advance - and they don't have enough seats to serve all guests, so if you're unlucky you'll end up having toasts in the bar. It would make so much more sense to combine the restaurants and offer a wider selection of menu items. All else - great!

hotel staff was very helpful and fluent English speakers. The resort location is perfect for ski-in/out, and is at a part of mountain that is not crowded AT ALL. Food is great and fair priced for lunch, dinner is a tad expensive since its all set menu, would recommend Phoenix hotel next door for more options, which the OkushigaKogen hotel was very happy to help us book reservations. Definitely a place that we want to return and have met several Australian and European customers who have made this place an annual visit. Highly Recommended.

really enjoyed our stay. it was a lovely family vacation. customer service was top notch. Ski on ski off location right next to the ski school. my child was taken care of at their day care and he had a lovely time and I felt he was safe under their care. Would definitely stay again. Beautiful location but a bit remote. Not much around in terms of apre ski but ski in and connected to whole Shiga Kogen complex. Beautiful fireplace in the lounge and live music every night.

The highlight of our japan trip”
Exceptional hotel in a great location. Very convenient from ski slope just roll yourself into hotel locker room. Spectacular view, staffs are so nice. What is lacking only selection of food perhaps because we came too early many other places hasnt opened yet so can only eat at the hotel. Special thanks to Aaron, super Aussie dude for being super helpful for everything we needed. We'll definitely come back soon!!

Can't imagine a better place for snow and ski! ”
Our second year in a row after discovering it last year. Prices have gone up so slightly but still an amazing place! Staff are accommodating unlike most Japanese hotels - making it a great place. Hope the management can find a way to keep uber fantastic GM Fred who not look after our needs but also keep everyone entertained with his world-class magic skills! We'll be back again!

Overall its good journey. But there is not that many choice for dinner. They only have 2 restaurant and should be reserve before. Staff very communicative and helpfull The manager sooo friendly. Recomended place to stay. In nagano. Definitly will come back again

Beginner's ski holiday”
Good location to learn skiing with ski in and out facilities. Rented skiis, poles and boots but had to buy googles which could not be rented. Guest rooms were clean and large. Loved the lounge with a fireplace but the hotel restaurants were expensive and frankly, the quality and taste of the food was disappointing. Breakfast was decent though. If you have car, you would be better off taking a short drive out for dinner in one of the nearby villages.

Lovely hotel with superb scene and genuine helpful + friendly staffs. Hotel is a bit old but clean and well maintained. The fireplace in the mezzanine floor is a huge plus. Absolutely recommended!

Great staff, good beginner ski slope, very chill and friendly atmosphere.”
The staff were awesome and go out of their way to help guests. I asked if the vending machines had hot drinks they noted that those in the building I was at did not have hot drinks, but the hotel management ran all the way to the vending machine to double check, and even when they confirmed that it did not have hot drinks, another staff offered to go to another place to get a hot drink for me. The drink was only 110 Yen yet they took the trouble to help me with it. It was a really nice gesture. The whole place is not touristy which provides a good getaway for any traveller and a good ski slope with a great view of the mountains. While it was inaccessible to restaurants (there was practically no other establishments nearby), I would definitely come back to stay :)

a handful of changes would make this place so much better”
I've been here four times, location is excellent, the hotel is right next to the main lift for that slope. But, I cannot in good faith recommend this place. While the majority of the staff are good, there are some characters that really make interacting with them distasteful. The Japanese guy checking us in late night was really unpleasant when I asked if he could check to see if a higher floor room was available (since we requested that). The two men working the bar are surly and slow (in contrast the two women working the bar, they were great). The guy running the snow machine kept dumping snow on us, as we were trying to load our car. They need to get rid of the bad apples, it's a discourtesy to the guests and other staff that work hard. This hotel would be so much better if they got rid of a handful of bad apples, upgraded their restaurants, and invested a bit more on wine and drinks.
