Cosy, quiet ryokan”
Walking from Takayama station took us 20 mins, didn't expect it to be so far out. However there's a huge supermarket, pachinko parlour, restaurants within 5 mins of the ryokan. The lady owner who invited us in was kind and very hardworking. Our room was on the 2nd floor and she helped us bring some of our luggage upstairs. She was ready to help at any point of time during our stay. My room is situated on the inner side away from the road so we couldn't really hear the noise from the traffic. During dinner time we walked to the nearby supermarket which had everything we needed and was much more affordable compared to the stores in the main area. The tatamis & the room were clean. The shared bathroom however lacked a lock so I was quite surprised when it was my turn to bathe. The gates to our room didn't have a lock to the gate as well. Our room provided us with a good night's rest for the following day journey to Kyoto. The next morning just as we are getting prepared to go out after our sumptuous breakfast. Mr Kozo the male owner of the ryokan offered to drive us to the station which was really nice! This accommodation is perfect for those who want to explore the west side of Takayama town and enjoy the experience of staying in a Ryokan with a personal touch

Our host was lovely and very helpful.”
We were in Takayama during a Japanese holiday weekend. Most hotels were booked so we ended up here. It was a 20 minute walk to the center of town, but that's no big deal. Our host was wonderful and very helpful at pointing out places to go on the map. She spoke very little English, but her smile more than made up for that. When we checked out, she insisted on driving us to the train station in her own car. It doesn't get any better than that.

Superb Japanese stay”
The friendly lady who runs the place will go to all lengths to make you feel welcome and comfortable. She was very hospitable, sweet and kind. The rooms were the simple Japanese style and very comfortable and quite spat opus by Japanese standards.

Good basic Japanese style ryokin”
Hotel is near a highway but there is no traffic during the night so don't worry. Staff speaks very basic English but is as helpfull as possible. I wanted to visit friend in the city centre and indicated on the clock that I would be back after midnight. The owner "told" / "indicated" that he would wait and close the central doors after midnight. At around 1am I could still enter the hotel. The hotel is 20 to 30 minutes (fast) walking of the interesting sights, cab will cost around 1000 yen from the station.

great value, quiet guest house”
The lady welcomed us when we arrived. Limited English but she is very friendly and helpful. Guest house and rooms very clean. Free tea and coffee and hot water, and toiletries. 30minute walk into town. Near large supermarket where it's very cheap for snacks. Heater in room was helpful when we were there. She drove us to bus station when we left. Highly recommended.

Very clean ”
We really enjoyed our stay here. The lady who runs the BB is what makes the place such a nice place to stay. She was always there to greet us and ask about our day - despite the language barrier. The only negative was the occasional smell of smoke - however we knew the place was smoking when we booked. I would stay here again.

Slightly further out but highly recommend - great place! ”
Lovely family run guesthouse. Great facilities, lovely people, great added extras (tea/coffee/fruit at breakfast time, lift to the station on our last day). It's a 15 minute walk to town centre/railway but this wasn't a problem for us. Definitely would recommend to others.
