Recommended!! ”
Staffs are very polite and friendly!! Food serving is good, but too much of cold food, personally prefer hot food. Room and facilities are awesome too!! Lobby served with hot tea and coffee, decoration is antique and nice. Helpful staff who send us to and from Takayama station.

This is our second visit to Yamakyu. The whole ambiance is so Japanese and cosy. The decoration and service reflect the devotion and earnestness to her visitors. We would be back.

Would definitely spend another night in this Ryokan!”
When I arrived at the station I decided to walk to the hotel as it is only a 15 minute walk. Upon my arrival I saw a very traditional building that didn't seem to be a hotel. This was something that I absolutely loved about my stay: it felt less of a hotel and more like home. The staff was always smiling and extremely welcoming, one of them even helped me put my yukata properly! The room was very clean and at night I slept like a baby because of the lack of noise (if you wish to have an extra relaxing stay I recommend the public bath). Overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would gladly stay a couple of nights there again! Plus the village is definitely a must see.

Wonderful Stay”
This hotel is unbeatable! Their staff provided excellent service, they greet you everytime when they met you in the hotel, very polite and professional! The hotel has a lot of antique decorations which are stunning. The room is spacious and clean which you can see a snowy view from the window. I have stayed here for two nights with meals inclusive. They served very nice and delisious breakfast and dinner which made us super full. There are hot spring located on the ground floor which is free to use. Wonderful stay and we will definitely come back again!

Exceptional”
This Ryokan is amazing and would highly recommend if you are looking for a traditional experience. The staff were all so helpful and extremely welcoming. The rooms are great and come with pyjamas to wear and kimonos. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent, huge amount of food...around 11 different dishes for dinner alone! Would definitely come back!

Great guest house with bath”
Great place with a good public.bath area and traditional rooms. Dinner was amazing and that's what makes it a superb experiance. Staff really friendly, welcoming and helpful. Bikes for free to get around were good for getting to the folk village. Walking tour from behind the house is good.

Totally worth it.”
I'm a single female traveler and this was my first ryokan experience. The place was very nice, clean and simple feeling. Free coffee and massage chairs. The best part was the food. It's been a week and I'm still burning off the calories ;) The food was fabulous and I tried things I wouldn't normally have. The hot springs were very pleasant. There was only one other person each time I went in. I appreciated how they rotate the springs each day between the men and women. Breakfast was also amazing. They will pick you and and drop you off at the station according to their time slots. I wish they had an outside seating area in the garden but you can always go across the street and relax at the temples.

nice dinner and service”
10 mins walk to the morning market, the hotel provides a private carpark which has enough space for about 13 cars. The dinner was yum and the portion was more than enough. However, the onsen was most likely some warm water instead of real onsen. It's worth to stay overall.

Simple yet luxurious experience”
Experience a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) and all its hospitality. Great attentive staff, comfortable bedding, a public bath (onsen) on site, and the real highlight, an amazing multi course dinner and breakfast. Truly well worth the money to experience this.

Great Staff, Value for Money”
The staff were great and the breakfast and dinner were great compared to the prices I paid. Overall, great value for money. Only thing is you may have to walk out 10 minutes to get the bus especially in the night when there is not much light on the streets but the takayama is small enough for you to walk on foot.
