Complete with amenities”
The place is 1km away from Kyoto station. Can we reached by walking if you don’t have much carry ons. It is neat and clean, complete with all necessary amenities and more. Aside from the usual basic toiletries, it has gas stove and kettle to boil water, refrigerator, microwave and even washing machine which are free for you to use. Although the washing machine does not have dryer, the bathroom has. Thus, you can dry your clothes in the bathroom. There’s also small tv in the bathroom for you to enjoy while soaking in the small bathtub. Good that they separated the bathroom, toilet and sink, so diff people can use diff ones simultaneously, not having to wait on each other. There’s a computer which i think can serve as tv as well. There’s also a table with 2 chairs so we had our dinner and breakfast take outs at the nearby 7-11 and mini-stop stores. Staff are friendly although they can give you wrong direction. I checked google for Inari and I didn’t know that I should have chosen Fukushima Inari. So google map gave a transit instruction that was going to Inari Shrine (different from where I intended to go) and as i was checking which bus stand to wait for the bus, i asked a person who was also waiting for the bus if this was the right direction going to the Inari place (showing her the picture of the thousand Torida gates), she shared her said and made a sign that meant the place the bus is going is far from the place I wanted to go. So not sure how to find my way, I went in to the reception and ask the receptionist, a guy, and I asked him the same question showing him the picture of the thousand Torii gates. He said yes that’s the way. And so i followed him thinking he should know better since he is in the tourism business being the hotel receptionist. After mins of taking the bus, as i was reviewing where we’re headed, I realized that the Inari Shrine and Fukushima Inari are different and they are indeed in opposite direction and so we had to get dow

Awesome stay with good facilities!”
It's the most convenient stay during our trip to Japan, the access is very convenient by bus from Kyoto station and the bus stop is just in front of the place, the room is spacious, very clean and the facilities are fully packed specially the cloth dryer in the bathroom. The minus thing is we need to pay some extra money to lend some cooking tools which is needed for us Indonesian to cook "Indomie" :p and this cooking tool is not available at the late night so it won't be available if you arrived late to the place. But overall is ok and value for money, for sure i will come back when i visit to Kyoto again!

Excellence location and value for money ”
Love this guesthouse, the minus point is only the size of the room but it is to be expected since we are in japan. All the facilities really useful especially the washing machine and dryer inside the bathroom. The location is excellence because it is near to Kyoto station and the bus from Kyoto station stop right in front of the guesthouse while the bus stop to Kyoto station just located opposite of it. On top of that there are many convenient store, restaurant and vending machine near this guesthouse including 7E just opposite of it. Overall value for money and will definitely stay here again.

Convenient location & comfortable stay”
We stayed for 9 days at Parkside Umekoji Guesthouse. The location was very convenient for places we wanted to visit and for travel to and from the Kyoto Station. Several buses stop right outside the Guesthouse or across the road or around the corner on Omiya Dori. We were able to reach places all over Kyoto in a single bus trip or just once or twice we had to take 2 buses. The Guesthouse was helpful with emails before we arrived and helpful while we were there. The room was as described on the website and was clean & comfortable. There was a small fridge/freezer, microwave cooker, washing machine, sink and gas cooktop. Our room was on the 3rd floor looking onto Shichiji Dori, a major road, but we heard virtually no traffic noise because of the double-glazing. Air-conditioning in the room worked fine and there was always hot water for baths & showers . The toilet was small but clean and had the usual "control panel" which we didn't touch ! Suitcase racks would be very useful.

We are sorry to respond you late. Thank you for giving us great review. We are really happy you enjoyed our guesthouse. We have many guesthouses so you can enjoy them when you come back to Japan again. We are looking forward to seeing you in Japan. See you soon. Sincerely Oda
The best guesthouse I've ever visited!”
Parkside Umekoji is really a comfortable place to stay in Kyoto. I think, it's not suitable to call it guesthouse. It's more like a private apartment or hotel. The place offers more than a guesthouse does. I highly recommend this place for those who want to visit Kyoto. Easily accessible from Kyoto station. Just take a bus no. 205 from gate B3 in Kyoto station, and then get off at Nanajo Omiya station. The guesthouse is just right behind the bus stop.

The concept”
This is my first time staying in a guesthouse instead of a hotel. First, I was a bit worried when it comes cleanliness and location, esp. for a guesthouse. But then I came to this property and I fell in love with it ♥️ I like the concept, fells like home and the location, even if it's not in Kyoto station but it's not hard to reach. It's about 20min walk to Kyoto station or by bus. It's clean, neat, well organized, and everything is perfect for me.

Awesome stay in Kyoto”
Im really impressed by the facilities and room. It is very suitable and spacious for a Kyoto stay. All the facilities such as cooking and washing machine is in your room. Its like a mini apartment to stay long term. The location is kinda a distance away from Kyoto Station but if you are not overly conscious about location and willing to bus around. It is an awesome stay!

Spacious, quiet, good facilities”
It comes with a washer and dryer and was right across the street from a 7-11 with an ATM (thank the heavens). It's about a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station which is not a problem unless you have heavy luggage, in which case you can take the bus. The self check-in was very convenient as we arrived much later than we expected. The room was spacious with two large, comfortable beds, a full-service kitchen, and a computer in case you needed it. It's basically a studio apartment, and you can pretend you're living in Kyoto versus temporarily staying there. We were really pushing our check-out time (literally to the minute) but the lady at the desk downstairs was very nice.

Thank you for giving us great review. We are really happy you enjoyed our guesthouse. The female staff will be happy to hear it too. We are looking forward to seeing you again. See you soon. Sincerely Oda
Great guesthouse!”
Very reasonable price and very spacious room, especially for Japan. Our room included a small washing machine and a ktichenette (and we rented cooking utensils for 500 yen) which was great for our extended 10-day stay. While the staffing hours are limited to 9-5, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. It's a little out of the way (but you would pay more for less for a more centrally located room) but if you are comfortable with Kyoto buses, and they are easy to use once you figure them out, it's really fine. Also only a 20 minute walk to the main station. A great choice especially for seasoned travelers.

Very nice small apartmentlean and quiet.”
There is not much to see from the street, but once inside the room was very nice. There are separate toilet and bath rooms, with all the amenities including a tiny TV for the bath. It is modern Japanese style, which means the main room is not large, and the bathtub is knees-to-chin, but there is a hand-held shower head. There was a PC that doubles as a TV, and WiFi was good. The washer was great, and while there is no dryer, there is a fan/heater in the bathroom that I think can be set to "dry" - we didn't need it, though. There is also space for drying on the small balcony. The room was very clean and quiet, though we were in the back. We walked to Tokyo Station in 20 minutes, even with bags, and there are bus lines around the corner. There are not a lot of restaurant options on the block, but a small buffet next to the Mini Stop around the corner has a basic breakfast of udon, salad, and a mix of other stuff for only 500 yen. Otherwise, the Kyoto Tower or train station is not far.

Very clean , quiet and pleasant stay”
The location is a bit far from Kyoto Station, so it is better if you are a backpacker rather than rolling your luggage. Kyoto is an easy place to navigate so overall it is not a big problem. Just round the street corner is Umekoji Park and Kyoto Aquarium. There is a bus stop just right in front of the guesthouse. Room is very clean. Great facilities except that the mattress and pillows are too soft. The mini kitchen has a kettle and 2 mugs but there is nothing for us to stir our instant coffee. Better to travel with a spork. The mini kitchen also has a washing machine and the owner provides washing powder too. There is no dryer but you can hang your laundry in the shower room where there is a room heater. Owner provides plenty of hanger. The toilet is just next to the shower room, separated. But it is quite narrow and small. So if you are a beefcake or a praying mantis, it might be a bit uncomfortable for you. We did our own self check-in, so did not manage to speak to the manager. But we think he is a very thoughtful person as the corridor wall is full of tourist info. There are even tourist brochures. He even provided umbrellas (which I brought out for one rainy day) for guests which you can return at the end of the day. Overall it is a great place to stay for 4 days or more. Highly recommended!

Nice place to stay, near Kyoto Station”
The guesthouse is near Kyoto Station. You can reach it by bus (205, 206 and others). The bus stop to Kyoto station is just opposite the entrance of the building. Everything is pretty new, but each accomodation is sufficient for one person only: there is very little furniture to put your things on etc., no hooks in the bathroom. The staff are excellent. They are very helpful. My friend had forgotten a book in her room, and they sent it to our accomodation in Tokyo with payment upon receipt. Would stay again here!

Great Value ”
Its like a boutique hotel more than a guest house! The room is really clean and equipped with everything. You can either walk 15mins to Kyoto station or 5mins by bus.. Bus stop is right in front of this hotel.. 7eleven is just opposite the hotel. Will come back again

it's a home-like stay!”
This is a cozy and clean guesthouse with fully equipped household appliances including a microwave oven, a washing machine, a fridge and even a stove for cooking (mostly for boiling water). These facilities combined with nearby convenience store makes the stay extremely comfortable. There is also a Internet connected PC in the room at our disposable. The room staff here has standard office hours from 9 am to 5 pm. Outside this period, we can only contact the manager via the guesthouse facebook message. And some request and only wait till the next day. The location is a little far away from Kyoto station, but the surrounding is quiet and clean. To conclude, we enjoyed our 2-day stay here.

An Awesome Stay”
It is just behind a the bus stop, so it's really easy to find. It's approximately 1.2km from Kyoto Station, which makes walking posible. As we booked the room, we received an email filled with instructions on how to go there and how to self check-in. We arrived during the office hour, so the manager was there and he speaks good English. The room was really spacious with its own toilet, bathtub, shower as well as microwave, fridge, stove and washing machine. We had a complete privacy as we didn't have to share facilities. Definitely will come again.

Outstanding !!!”
I have stayed in guesthouse many times, but nothing like Parkside Umekoji! What impressed me the most is how the staff is thoughtfuly give information to the guest. Even they made a video so guest can understand easily. Talk about location, facilities & cleanliness? It is superb! Kitchen & washing machine inside the room is my favorite things about this guesthouse. Definitely will stay here again when I visited Kyoto next Time!

New, Clean, Furnished”
Overall (Twin room): - I would stay here again. :-) Pros: 1. New and clean 2. Has fridge and microwave oven 3. Has PC and monitor for TV too (I didn't try TV) 4. Separate toilet and bathroom 5. Has hair dryer, shampoo, body wash, toothbrush etc. 6. Has towels 7. Bus stop (Bus no. 103, 104 and 205) is just outside Guesthouse's entrance) 8. 7-11 convenience store is just across the street. 9. Comfortable bed Cons: 1. A bit of walk from Kyoto Station (about 20 minutes). If you have luggage, it will be a bit inconvenient. You can take Bus 103, 104 and 205 from Bus Terminal instead (about 230 yen one-way, or you could buy 500-yen All-Day Bus Pass if you are going to take the bus to other attractions on the same day) 2. No cooking utensils (pot, wok, cutlery etc.). Have to rent a set of cooking utensils for 500 yen. 3. Small bathtub. No shower screen. The holder for the shower head is not in the bathtub area, so have to hold on to the shower head while you shower. 4. A bit of walk to food (5-10 minutes).

Get what you pay for. Helpful staff”
We stayed at Parkside for 4 nights. Two people in a double bed which was tight but we did know that going in. For what you pay, it's a fine place to stay. It's a great location close to the main Kyoto train station. The bed is comfortable but thin bed sheets and a duvet cover that does not cover the whole comforter (which felt a bit weird). It's very nice to have the washing machine in the room and the shower / bath in the room was great with good hot water. Staff was very responsive and helpful.

Will stay there again”
It's a very nice and cozy place. It's also quite clean as well. My friend and I enjoyed staying in Parkside Umekoji Guesthouse. The only, not so much downside but rather disadvantage, is that there's not many shops around apart from a 7-11 across the road. It's a quiet stay which was nice. Overall, I would give it a 4 to 4 and a half star. If I get a chance to visit Kyoto again, I would definitely consider living there again!
