Restaurant, rooms and pool offer exceptional views of the far reaching paddy fields and hills of An Giang Province. We were there at the end of April (30th April Long Weekend) and most fields were electric green. The room was clean, tidy, welcoming and offered great views of the paddy fields by day and the large (but empty) balcony offered star gazers great views. The restaurant offered Chau Doc specialities like the stir fried beef in coconut sauce and sour hot potato fish were exceptional.

Had a major visa problem at the Vietnam border coming down from Phnom Penh by boat. Was held up for 3 hours because the immigration official at HCM airport had stamped 'Cancelled' on my multiple visa then written 'Not' over the 'Cancelled' stamp when flying to Siem Reap. Finally arrived at hotel and, having been advised of my visa problem, the staff upgraded us from a street-view room to one of the best river-view rooms available. The delta views were awesome, the room was beautiful, the pool was so inviting and the hotel is certainly 5 star. Had a walk around central Chau Doc our first night and, having seen what the other hotels look like, am very grateful that I booked the Victoria. Dinner on the veranda overlooking the Mekong Delta was an absolute delight. Hotel arranged a minibus to take us to the bus station for our trip down to Can Tho. The only place I would stay in Chau Doc.

The hotel is old and need some maintenance. Other than that, it's great for the price. Staff were awesome, very attentive without being intrusive. Breakfast had a lot of choices for Vietnamese and western taste and tasted good too. The best breakfast in my five years staying at various 5 and 4 stars hotels in the whole Vietnam. Definitely will come back and stay in this hotel again if I am in the region again. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely resort tucked away just beside thr entrance of the cable car station for nui cam station. Stayed here before few months back. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean. They have a dining area for food. Restaurant serves decent food for anytime of the day. A place to be for peace and serenity. Tip - Buy snacks, cup noodles. There is nothing to do at night and no stalls nearby in the vacinity.

I stayed here for 3 nights in Chau Doc City. 1) The location is not located in the city centre – you have to take a 5 minute motorbike ride to the city centre for food and shopping. But it is really not an issue since after 5pm the motorbike rentals are for free! The hotel's location is quiet and peaceful :) 2) Rentals for motorbikes during the day were extremely reasonable with reliable bikes and helmets! 3) The owner is extremely friendly and nice to talk to. Really appreciate his great command of English and his recommendations on where to travel to! 4) Facilities in the hotel are working well – A TV in my room, small fridge, fan, working aircon, towels, wardrobe etc. Facilities are reasonable for the amount that you are paying! Nothing shortchanged. 5) Transportation bookings to neighbouring cities (phnom penh/hochiminh) are really convenient, just do it over the counter!

I found the Hai Chau Hotel to be a pleasant place to break up a journey by motorcycle around the Mekong Delta. The hotel was very comfortable, with crisp, clean linen and powerful, hot showers, both a God-send after a day on the bike! The hotel is within walking distance of nearby restaurants and cafés, while there's a motorcycle mechanic just across the road if you're travelling by that medium. The staff are helpful and friendly, all too happy to have a chat or offer advice on things to see. I was taking an unorthodox route back to Saigon and the chap behind the counter advised me of a suitable route which also allowed me to see nearby Cham mosques and villages. The breakfast is fine and there's also an extensive menu for lunch and dinner if you don't wish to venture out. The only drawback was finding the place. The street name provided by Agoda is no longer the actual name, so consult Lonely Planet if you're in doubt, for it has the proper name (I don't have the actual name to hand. Sorry!) All in all, a pleasant place to stay and well worth the price.

When I travel i don't see the need to stay at a 5 star since I mostly use the hotel to sleep and clean up.. Then I look at how much can save without sacrificing, cleanliness, and conveniece.. If you sacrifice cleanliness you will end up with bed bugs... If you sacrifice convenience you'll spend a lot on transportation and end up walking more than you wish.. Finally how is the staff treating you can set the tone for your mood.. Phuong Nam was clean, was a 10 min walk from downtown and the staff were kind.. The only draw back would be that the staff doesn't speak English, which didn't impact me since my reservatiins were done online

Great aircon, clean facilities, further from town than we had hoped for (which was our fault, not the hotels, as we didn't really realise how long it took to walk 1.5km). Be advised that no one at this hotel speaks any English, but don't let that deter you! It's all part of the adventure. We don't speak any Vietnamese but they seemed nice enough. Also be aware that they ask for your passport upon checking in, as many hotels in Vietnam do.

i sent an email to the hotel beforehand checking that they would provide a double bed for my wife and me, which they confirmed, and at the same time they included a lot of useful information on chau doc and transport to/from ho chi minh city and phnom penh, which turned out to be quite useful, as it included bus information not in my lp guidebook (we took the suggested hung cuong bus from cholon [chinatown] in district 5 in hcmc, which was quite comfortable and arrived two blocks from the hotel). the hotel itself was decent. what i liked: - friendly staff with good english - upon our arrival at 5pm we were easily able to book a boat to phnom penh for the next morning at the front desk - cheap room price - small but charming room with a big balcony overlooking the town market what i didn't find so appealing: - the pillows were hard and uncomfortable to sleep on - the hotel didn't have much of a "local" feel to it with all western tourists as guests (i was hoping for more of a "small town" experience, but i suppose you're not going to get that at a major tourist border crossing) - breakfast was an overall unpleasant experience (it wasn't included in the room price, so we ordered it the night before and paid extra for it--as it went, all the guests in the hotel were departing for boats at the same time, so the breakfast area was crowded, there weren't enough tables to sit, and the food was slow in coming and not a good value for the money--i'd suggest just eating something at a local restaurant nearby or preparing something the night before) so, some good and some bad, but decent overall, especially for just the night.

This is a good budget hotel for 1-2 nights. The staff is really helpful and friendly. I booked a day ahead and for some reasons i keyed in a wrong date on my agoda booking. Called the hotel directly for help. The staff were really attentive, contacting both agoda and myself a few times to get the booking in order. Two comments on the state of the rooms though 1) I don't feel that the blanket is clean enough and 2) Non-smoking room is not be really non-smoking; the in-room mini bar includes a pack of cig even though i booked for a non-smoking room.

The best hotel for a overnight near border if you wish to go to Cambodia. We aririved late in the evening for an overnight before we go to Cambodia. We wanted to go by boat (Mekong river), but we had no idea how (we knew boats leave Chau Doc early in the morning but we had no tickets, so we planned to get up early and start walking from one to other company). In the morning we came to check out, but the owner sit us down, gave us coffe, breakfast, and while we were eating she organised everything, including transportation from hotel to pier. We recommend it!

We've been traveling for almost a month in Vietnam, and this has been our favorite hotel so far. The hotel itself is small and intimate, but the rooms are luxurious and huge. The owners claim the best beds in the country, and we found that to be true! Super comfortable mattresses, excellent pillows, and nice bedding. We planned to depart the hotel early in the morning but couldn't bring ourselves to get out of bed. And then the bathrooms - large, separate shower with a rain head (!) and a big sink with tons of counter space for your stuff. These guys really get that the details matter - from the complimentary bikes, to the rooftop garden, to the card the owner hands you when you leave in case you need help calling or getting back to the hotel, to the homemade Laos-style sausages, to the decor of objects and photos collected on their own travels. We felt very cared for here and wish our stay could have been longer. Thank you!

We stayed here during a weekend and there is terrible karaoke going on in the restaurant or cafe or whatever that is. The electric guitar was so loud we actually had to leave the room to go somewhere else. Thank god the restaurant closes at 10pm, so at least the night was okay. The first room we got had dirty sheets and holes in the mosquito net, so we switched rooms and the second one was better, even though there was sticky stuff on all surfaces, for example the desk. I was not a big fan of the bed (pretty hard and uncomfortable), but the room is cheap and I guess the comfort matches what you can expect from a 1-star hotel.
