The food here is lovely and low cost but NOT cheap quality. drink are cheap too 100yen. bathroom and bed linen all very clean and looked after well. beds are so soft and comfortable. guess are polite. very secure at night time, you have a locker to put your personal belongings in. shame we can't use the top floor (shared living space) but Coronavirus everywhere but thats not hotels fault and they have made the place spacious enough to feel at ease The two lovely guys who run the place go out of their way to help you the best they can. They own it so they care. Just book dont think. Just do it

Value of Money & Easy to Find”
Friend staffs, easy to find. Very near mrt station with walking distance about 5-6minit. Building inside provide lift suitable for travellers that with big luggage. Special name for every room such as my room was “emma”. If we are travel again to osaka, we will still choose this hostel as our choices.

Hip and cool place to stay in Osaka”
Near the Shinsaibashi and Hommachi Stations - this is a hip and cool place to stay when in Osaka. The staff are very polite and helpful, the shared baths are cleaned everyday and the room is big enough for 2. Although, it might be tight for 2 large suitcases- good thing we traveled light! We stayed at the private room for 2 and happy we chose Roots Hostel for our Osaka-Kyoto travel itinerary.

Great hostel! Would stay again!”
The staff are super nice people! And it seemed like the travellers who stay are also cool people. You can chose to interact at the hostel or just get up and get out to explore Osaka. I never had to wait to use a shower or toilet. It’s a minor inconvenience that the toilet and shower weren’t on the same floor as my dorm room, but I just used the stairs (get some more exercise) and never even saw anyone else on my way up or down! I saw reviews saying there was issue was hot water for showers? I stayed in summer so I *wanted* cool showers, so can’t comment on that. I enjoyed chatting with staff and sipping a beer in the “dining area / cafe” at street level. The dorm room I stayed in was a great setup, the way the walls are constructed mean you have privacy per each set of bunks, and with a curtain, I felt comfortable and more privacy than in other hostels i’ve stayed in. The located is a little removed from some of the “tourist hot spots” but I enjoyed walking and subway rides! Great!

Near Hommachi Station, 17 minutes to Osaka Castle & Dontonburi by walk. the hostel good, clean and friendly staff. but we just get 1 towel for whole stay in there, if you want to change the towel you must pay 200yen. so far so good! thanks roots hostel

Osaka for a night”
We arrived Hungary and it is always nice to arrive at a place like Roots that serves excellent food. It makes it easy. They gave us hot water because we were cold and were very helpful. The hardest thing for us was getting there from the JR station. We were told a few things from the JR folks and took a funny rout . I was thinking that I would be sure to ask about my hotels and their location to my transportation. It was a little rough. Everything else was great about Roots.

Great place for newcomers and veterans alike”
The area is located in a good portion of the city where you're within a good 10-20 minute walk from most areas. The near by tunnels for the trains all interconnect allowing you a chance to avoid the heat from the humid and brutal Osaka summers. The hostel it's self is a nicely cleaned and very well furnished location. The staff are friendly and for new stays in Japan will have plenty of resources as staff and many travelers will usually speak English. I've met people from Australia and Canada at random intervals of the morning to which we casually drank in the lobby and smoked as we enjoyed a late summer night basking in the differences of culture we all come from. Beds are comfortable and spacious, and the staff will arrange assignments to your location to stay with your traveling group (if needed). The bar is open until about 2300 hours on any given day, with happy hour specials running in the late afternoon.

Great hostel and very friendly staff who were always keen to help. The beds were very comfortable and spacious. The facilities (dorms, toilets and showers) were very clean and neat. The hostel had laundry services available but had no kitchen. Although Osaka is the foodie city of Japan so not really needed but for some this may be a deal breaker, not for me though! Again Roots is great hostel.

Close to Orix Theatre”
I came for a concert at Orix Theatre One of the best hostel Thank you for you help and consideration It was fairly clean and veryyyy near to the concert location, so i am very pleased with that Thats what matters to me haha There is also a nice restaurant/bar down there The location is at the quiet part of shinsaibashi Staffs are super friendly and accomodating When staying be sure to try their Takoyaki! Delicious! I will stay here again if there is concert near Orix =)

Very Very nice Staffs. Very Good prize. The most is very good place. This hostel is nearly "Yotsubashi sta. Hommachi sta. " And 5min.walk to Orangestreet fashion street (better than Shinsaibashi). Next time I will book here 100%

Exceptional”
Cheap bed, bathrooms are really clean, staff are warm and friendly, incredible shower pressure!! Close to 7eleven, family mart, Lawson, walking distance to dotonbori (about 15-20 minutes). Cons: the construction sound outside is unbearable early in the morning, there are no curtains to block light out, fixed lamp in bed would be nice instead of clumsy one that’s there now. The restaurant smells like cigarettes due to being allowed to smoke inside in japan. But for price paid, definitely worth saving money by staying here. Also don’t spend more than 2 nights in Osaka, there’s nothing to do.

What stood out from first impression was the small, tight-knit, friendly people behind the hostel who is ready to serve you. The whole hostel gives out a casual yet professional vibe. Major pros were the free takoyaki crash-course, in-house bar and restaurant/cafe (20% off for those staying) and short walk to the train station. Major cons was the tight rooms (we booked a 2 double bed family room) with little space for baggage and the ocassional cold showers (despite the notices). Overall, great value for money and definitely recommending this to friends.

Located near Hommachi station which are an interchange of 3 subway line and only 1 station from Namba, 2 station from Shinsaibashi, making this place so convenient to stay and travel to many places in Osaka! (but since the station is very big itself, you may have to walk quite a lot)

i stayed for 3days here and it was amazing. seems it was brandnew building, everything was really clean and comfy. restaurant which is in ground floor also owns by hostel , they give 20% discount to people who stays in hostel. food is great

Young and trendy hostel”
Nice clean hostel for the young and trendy. Location was near to Shisaibashi shopping district. Could upgrade with more facility such as a kitchen for us to cook at and a TV in the rooms. Any how very satisfy with my stay at the hostel.
