Clean rooms and friendly staff, really the best”
Both dinner and breakfast at Gaeseki were satisfying. The staff were proficient in English and very friendly. The room was spacious, pleasant, and excellent :)

For a traditional experience”
The room was beautiful and we felt bad for stepping into it and messing it up. The Kaiseki was an interesting experience. A lot of yhe food is very hardcore traditional and not tourist friendly but we enjoyed it. Especially the fish and cooking our own meat. The breakfeast was good too. The Onsen was nice and relaxing and maybe the only negative thing about the place is how far it is from the center of Kyoto. I suggest going there on a day when you are planning to visit the golden pavillon because it's really close.

Great surroundings, facilities and service.”
The hotel is very well presented and all the staff members are very welcoming. Everything is clean and tidy. The lobby, onsen, guest rooms, dining area ... everything. Facilities in the hotel are great. The hotel is only a short drive to the main area of Kyoto where all the restaurants and attractions are.

Very beautiful Japanese-style hotel”
(1) It is very beautiful Japanese-style hotel. Unfortunately I arrived too late in Spring. The Sakura Tree (Cherry Blossom) outside my room was nearly ended. (2) I tried the Kansai-ryori at the first night. It tasted quite good and the staff was very friendly to introduce the dishes. (3) There are shuttle bus to the Shokoku-ji and the nearest MTR station. Although I didn't use it often. (4) Some bad points are that the room has little stuffs. There are only 3 Yatsuhashi and Green-tea. The hotel is far from any supermarket or convenience store to buy your own snake food or drinks. (but they have vending machine selling drinks) (5) Moreover, the hotel Wifi (it should be government Wifi) is very inconvenience and it requires re-authentication if I disconnect for around 30 minutes. The price is relatively competitive. If you want to try live in a beautiful Japanese-style room, you should try this.

Excellent first experience of a ryokan ”
Overall, a great stay. We hadn't stayed in a ryokan before and I have to confess, didn't really know what expect. Nenrinbo really surpassed these expectations with the staff's attention detail from the initial welcome. The meals we're excellent really excellent both the kaiseki on the first night and the shabu shabu on the second night were great. It takes a little more effort to get out to the hotel, but it's worth it once you're there are it's easy to forget that you're in a city with the must mountain views. The onsen is always the best way to end a weary day of sightseeing and we did so every day!

Beautiful traditional Ryokan near the mountains”
Nenrinbo was a fantastic ryokan! The food was delicious and the staff is courteous and helpful. There is a beautiful view of the mountains from the swimming pool and a nice public bath a well. The property also has a lovely garden on site. Overall, this is a great place to have an authentic, traditional ryokan experience.

Best of the best ryokan. It was great.”
We stayed one night at 12/16-17. It was great and the first experience to me in ryokan. Staffs were very kind, and room conditions were very nice. They provide free shuttle bus for guests. Thank you for all staffs of Nenrinbo Ryokan.

Beautiful upgraded ryokan”
The ryokan was recently remodeled so the facilities and rooms look brand new. The ryokan is very clean and the staff are very kind and attentive. I highly recommend this place to experience a traditional ryokan. The ryokan is further away from popular tourist attractions. However they offer free shuttle to the nearest station.

Good Ryokan off the beaten path”
Very nice stay, competent and English speaking staff, outstanding Japanese breakfast. Only inconvenient which comes with the desire to be quiet and away from the center: availability of close by restaurant, the hotel staff found one which required taxi (2000 JPY round trip). Also being far means no fast access to places for visiting. But that was our choice to be quiet and away, so it cannot be blamed on the hotel of course. If you want a high end Ryokan and can afford the extra travel, it is a very good choice

Helpful staff and wonderful experience”
Pros - the staff (especially Takahashi) were very helpful, the room was exactly what we wanted to experience in a Ryokan and the traditional Japanese breakfast was a treat. Lovely onsen! Takahashi went out of his way to listen to what we wanted to see in our short visit, put a plan together and print out all the trains and directions etc. He also arranged a wonderful restaurant for us! We were well looked after there!

Nice japanese style ryokan but expensive one”
It is a nice hotel in very good quite place in Kyoto not far from temples. Employees are helpful but a lot of them don't speak English at all and they are strange at some points. For example the hotel has garden for guests but they ask not to be there more than 5 minutes because other guests may want to seat on their balconies. And check-out is a bit early - at 10 AM, I asked to stay one - two hours more - but they rejected... The price is very expensive for such kind of hotel I think.

Great location, but over prices for peak season”
Nenrinbo is not the top tier ryokan in Kyoto, but reasonable place for having an experience of essential Japanese style accomodation.

Although the location is rather far from the main city, the environment is very very good. You must definated enjoy the green and fresh nature. We were astonished by the spacous Japanses style bed room. Moreove, the staffs were very professional and full of hospitality. They wellcomed us and helped us to carry our luggage. For the breakfast,it's extremly tasty and a lot. We enjoyed the snowing view while we were having it. Highly recomended to all of you.

Great condition (new) ”
The hotel is pretty new and the room was in excellent condition and clean. They were very nice and sent us a free fruit tray as we were celebrating a birthday during our stay. The hotel has its own car park right outside which was nice (and free). The only regrets were that the medium baths and garden were closed for maintenance and the outdoor swimming pool also was closed until the next morning until our check out time so we missed out on these facilities.

Nice pleasant stay”
I enjoyed my stay here, overall was very good & pleasant. Lovely full bloom sakura tree from my window with mountain background. Service was good, food really nice, everything was provided well inside your room. Slight cons : - Too bad cannot walk in the garden, was under renovation - The door to public bath ladies doesn’t have a special/more secure access - I was about to take off my yukata when a 8-9 year old Boy entered! 😱 to pass towels to her mom. (I wish the parents have better brain - the mom could come out & collect rather letting that boy enter with possibilities seeing women naked’s bodies that could affect/arouse his mind and make us uncomfortable too! - it’s Women Only space) Suggestion for the staff : to inform about the tax during check in - luckily I read about it, if not it could be a ‘surprise’ to have an additional bill during check out :)

Truly lovely experience ”
We stayed for two nights and checked in around 2:30 am. One of the staff Nagasawa upon hearing that my boyfriend was hungry offered to drive us to 7-11 but we didn't want to impose so late at night. He brought his own snacks and bag of potato chips for us to stave off our hunger. Truly fantastic service. I wish I could have stayed longer! The facilities were clean and such a beautiful environment in the mountains with cherry blossoms in our view. The food was delicious and all the staff were so helpful and spoke good English. We stayed in the duplex annex with a private tub overlooking the beautiful courtyard. So relaxing! A wonderful couples retreat!

Lush, gorgeous, perfect location near several temples and shrines. Easy to get to yet still quite isolated. Friendly staff and keiseki breakfast very good. Highly recommended
