Great Ryokan experience ”
Ryokan Seiryu is nearby to the Takayama train station, just a short 10 min walk or so. The ryokan has a traditional look and feel, with great service from their staff. The all inclusive meal plan was excellent. Takayama is known for its Hida beef so be assured you’ll get plenty of that during breakfast and dinner. The onsen is small but sufficient. The bus station to Shirakawa-go (unesco heritage) is nearby and within an hour plus or so bus ride, you’ll be amazed with the beautiful sight of the village. We truly enjoyed our stay at Ryokan Seiryu. Great service and wonderful food. Highly recommended.

Nice ryokan stay with kaiseiki experience ”
The ryokan is very near to the Morning Market and Preservation Areas. It is within 8 mins walk from the Takayama train station. The staff are very hospitable. It has a small cosy onsen which is nice. We can also use the onsens in their sister hotel nearby. The basic kaiseiki meal with Hida beef and the morning Japanese breakfast are very yummy. It is ab experience to stay in a ryokan. ありがとうございます、

Excellent.”
The service of the hotel is excellent. There is a hot spring in Ryokan Seiryu, but you can also enjoy the hot spring facilities at the Alpina hotel. The room is a Japanese style room and it is quite big. The booking also included a dinner and the food are delicious. The location are not difficult to be find, you can arrive there from the JR station at around 10-minutes. It gave me an excellent experience in Takayama.

Great ryokan experience”
Excellent service staff who helped us to check in and brought our luggage to our room. She gave us a tour of our room (which was huge, as it had an attached bathroom). When we asked for recommendation for good places to eat, she helped us locate the restaurants on an English map so that we were able to find our directions easily. We tried 2 of the 3 recommendations and they were excellent. The service was great and consumables were replenished every day. The tatami mats were kept each morning and set up each night, so staff would come by and help us tidy up the room, replenish the snacks, green tea, yukata, bathing essentials, etc. Even water in the thermos was topped up each day, together with a flask of ice water. Wifi is only available in the lobby, so if you need internet access, it is only available in the lobby. There is onsen available at the hotel. Personally, it is rather small and it would feel quite packed if there's more than 3 or 4 people there. Otherwise, it is very functional. However, it is important to note that they offer free access to the onsen of their sister hotel, which is a 5-minute walk from the ryokan. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the ryokan and would not hesitate to recommend this ryokan to anyone heading to takayama for a holiday. The service is excellent and seats at a central location.

Very nice hotel but no views.”
Ryokan Seiryu has a very helpful and polite staff; we followed their advice for local eating and exploration with great results. The rooms were on the smaller side but comfortable. We did not try the breakfast and dinners. The rooms have private baths, and the public bath is clean and was not crowded at the times we used it. We would definitely stay here again if we revisit Takayama.

Wonderful little ryokan with a great bath”
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Ryokan Seiryu Hotel: the staff is wonderful, the ryokan features a nice public bath, and the location is ideal. I would definitely stay here again, but I did think it a bit pricy compared to other hotels and ryokans in Takayama.

First Ryokan”
This was our first stay at a Ryokan. The size of the room was much better than I expected. Yes, most of the area will be used for the beds in the evening, but compared to room sizes in Tokyo, these are much more spacious. The staff all spoke good English and extremely helpful and nice. The Hotel also feels so much safer with so much staff constantly at the Hotel preparing meals and making beds. We made use of the onsen access to their partner hotel and used that instead of the one at Ryokan Seiryu which were great.

Comfortable room quiet location”
The Ryokan Seiryu was comfortable and affordable. It was situated in a quiet street walking distance from the train station. We only had breakfast at the restaurant but it was a traditional breakfast and most enjoyable. The staff was friendly with enough English to get by. Wi-fi access supposed to be available from the lobby only but we were able to access it from the third floor. Everything in Takayama was easily accessible from the hotel.

Very happy experience”
We loved our stay at this ryokan. The staff were incredibly helpful, nice and friendly. Don't expect this to be a big luxurious modern hotel - it's not. For what we paid, we were very satisfied and happy. I only wish we signed up for the breakfast and dinner. Most restaurants in Takayama close around 4pm and there is not much choice at night. From what I saw, the food looked and smelt good.

Great ryokan in beautiful Takayama! ”
We loved our stay and were sad to leave! The onsen is a magical experience that was thoroughly enjoyed, as was the delicious dinner served in our room! The staff are so helpful and go out of their way to assist and make not only your stay with them, but your whole visit to Takayama one you'll never forget! Numerous small touches make this a highly recommended Ryokan!

Good service, established hotel, very clean”
Though it's an old establishment, it's very clean and well maintained. About 10 mins to Takayama train/bus station. Stayed here for 2 nights and took day trip to Shirakawa-go. In the mornings and evenings, the staff would help us to keep/lay the futons on the mat. Very professional staff with excellent service. Unfortunately, futons were quite thin so it was quite hard to sleep on. Quilts were very comfortable and fluffy. Walls were thin so we could hear our neighbour's conversations. Onsen was available in hotel for free but didn't get a chance to try it. Overall, Quite an interesting experience. Convenient store was 1 min's walk away. Rubber boots were available for guests so it helped a lot when walking on ice. Shops during winter closed at 5pm. Heaters worked very well and room was nice and cosy during winter/snowy weather.

Great value for money, nice public bath”
It was raining on the night I arrived. After having dinner outside, my shoes were wet on the way back to the hotel. When I tried to wipe off the dirt on my shoes, a hotel staff noticed and realized my shoes were wet. He took them away to dry and told me to get them back tomorrow morning. It was very considerate. The room is quite spacious for Japanese hotel and heat was strong, making the stay comfortable. Facility in public bath is really enjoyable. And the breakfast was delicious too, with one of the dishes with Hida beef. All in all, great value for money and I would love to stay there if go to Takayama again.

reasonable price for first ryokan experience. ”
that was our first time at traditional ryokan of Japan. it's pretty big but the room was small than I expected. but all the crews are kind and gentle. full step dinner called 'Kaiseki' was perfect, too. also we enjoyed sister hotel's rooftop Onsen. it's not far from Ryokan seiryu. and the town was calm at night time but vividly fulled with little crowd at day time.

Really value for money!”
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room they have given us was also enormous. It's probably double the size of average rooms in Japan. It's also very well kept and clean. Everyday there will be staff coming in at 7:30pm without fail to setup our beds. There's a small onsen at the ground floor but even if it's full you can walk to their sister spa hotel FOC to use the facilities. This was our favourite hotel in our Japan trip and we will definitely stay here again if we visit Takayama
