Very comfortable hotel , with spacious and clean rooms , each with its own terrace. They also have a nice view, and a great pool. Located just a short walk from Borobudur make this place a perfect place to stay if you want to visit Borobudur. You can also find a lot af place to eat nearby.

No Frills Budget Hotel Safe for Women”
It is a small hotel with very basic rooms and simple food. The staff are friendly even while being super busy(I went during Vesak festival). This place is charming when there are less guests! I loved chilling in the shaded seating between the swimming pool and the rice field just outside the hotel, when most of the guests had left for the day and the hotel was quieter.

Since we went there during Vesak's Day.. it was a great stay because the Vesak Parade from Mendut-Borrobudur walk through this hotel. it was near Borrobudur you could reach it on foot. The room was spacious..the pools was beautiful.. the staffs were kind.. if there was that should be upgraded would be the breakfast.

In overall we're enjoying our stay at Shankara. It was a nice hotel in strategic location. We're happy but in my personal opinion, this hotel is overpriced if we looked at some aspects e.g. DUST is everywhere within your room, towels are humid and smell bad, you need to pay more for breakfast especially for children above 6yo but the food is really simple (where the money gone?), bathroom need maintenance. We do support for local business but the owner shall provide more attention to improve, otherwise there will be only single-visit customer.

Stay here for 1 night, didnt had the chance to try the swimming pool. I booked triple bedroom, the room is kinda small but the bathroom is huge which is useless becoz we prefer sit on bedroom instead of bathroom 😬, bed lil bit hard.. cant sleep well. Cleanliness is bad, especially for the cup. It has stain n dirty inside the cup kind a gross so i need to wash it by myself before use it. They dont provide extra bed

We booked a night. Check in the n the evening, checkout at 4am. Pool is big but quite deep. The kids pool is too shallow separated by a tiny glass wall which can be dangerous if accident occurs. Bed sheets not clean. Towel not white. The fishpond in front of the room got rubbish in it. Restaurant food too salty. Far from city. Boring place

The hotel room that we got is facing the pool. It has a small fish pond outside but dirty. The bed sheets and towel are greyish (not white anymore). We do not like open toilet concept. Adult pool is quite deep for kids. The separator between kids and adults pool is made of small glass in the center which can be quite harmful if accident happens. The bed is small single. We decided to check out early morning. Food at the restaurant is not nice and not cheap considered it is in Magelang city.

I stayed at Shankara with my elderly parents over Vesak 2023. The place has flat ground and not many stairs, so it is elderly-friendly. I love the long pool. Breakfast is sumptuous. The staff especially Eka, are very friendly and helpful. They helped me get tickets to the Borobudur Temple so I did not have to join in the long queues in the morning. Some areas for improvement would be the cleanliness of the bathroom and cups. Water heater is functional but it would be good for the water to be hotter. Hotel is near many eateries. Overall, I had a good time at Shankara and would stay there again.
