Where to stay in Shigakogen
Shigakogen hotels & accommodations

I was surprised with this hotel when I reached there. Not as bad as I thought it was because I read there’s a lot of negative review about it. I stayed in the West Wing hotel. It was better as it’s nearer to Ichinose (1 bus stop away will be the night ski area, 2 bus stops away will be the food central). The rooms are decent. Hotel staffs are friendly. I did not try an...

The dinner was fanatic!! The host family was very nice!! They drived us between different locations, (bus stop, ski area and hotel) The rooms are big. However, we stayed at this hotel in early Dec, season of skiing has just started, only 2 rooms were reserved. Too few people in the hotel, I was a little bit scared, especially, I stayed alone in the spring which is loca...

The staff wasn't fluent in English but tried their best to communicate with us and we understood everything just fine. The food quality of the buffet was surprisingly amazing, giving us a well rounded taste of Japanese cuisines. The location was centralized between the ski lifts and the bus stop. Couldn't have asked for a better location. The hotel has aged a bit but a...

Lovely small hotel, with nice food and onsen, in a great location on the snow, with friendly staff, and good facilities, including the ski hire gear ... which was excellent quality. Make sure you book the half board package in advance, because there aren't any restaurants in Shiga Kogen, and if you don't book the meal package in advance, you can't order it once you arr...

I used it in after-season (early April) for ski trip thus the below may not be all the same during the prime season. There were very few guest (maybe 5% of capacity). The manager was friendly and helpful. The room was okay but with a bit of awkward arrangement of beds. Heating was good, controllable. The wifi worked well. No fridge in the room. The public bath was good...

At the most convenient location next to the Hasuike bus stop, the hotel offers a simple yet cozy stay for travellers and hikers of the Shiga Kogen. The meals are unexpectedly impressive, using a lot of greens and local ingredients. Onsens are very good too, helping to relax the tiredness of a day of hiking in the hills. Recommended for those who want a tranquil, soo...

I had the chance to get a discount voucher for the one-night stay, but I really think it is worth the normal price: the place is really quiet and very well-maintained, and the surroundings are amazing. I would surely go back to the same place if I have the chance to go there again. One remark though: the location displayed on Agoda (but also on other websites) is wron...

The staff at Diamond Shiga were wonderful, and the manager spoke excellent English. We stayed four nights in a Japanese style room, but didn't sleep well due to firm mats and solid pillows. Next time we'll choose a hybrid room instead, with western beds. Be aware that the hotel doesn't take credit cards so come with plenty of cash. The brewery/ restaurant next door w...

Hotel Sunny Shiga was perfect for a 3 night/2 day stay and the staff were all so, so friendly. We loved our stay and would recommend to anyone! Some info for staying in this area: -Get as much yen out before you leave Tokyo or Nagano; ATMs that take American cards are hard to find and almost all places accept yen only. - Ski rental at the hotel was 1500 yen/person ...
