My Best Stay Ever”

This is the first time ever, I rate a hotel 10 out of 10. This place overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations in many areas. Before arriving we had one of the best meals I have ever eaten - Hida-beef in the city center, suggested and reserved by the hotel staff. The room (or rather flat) was large and phenomenally cosy, clean & beautiful. The breakfast was "perfect" and we had it while looking at a beautiful Japanese garden and watching many colorful koi enjoying their pond. It was the first time ever, that I was fully convinced in a hotel that it should be more expensive. Upon checkout, the staff correctly guessed that we had just got married and suddenly gave us all kinds of presents. (expensive ones). It would have been a perfect stay even without any gifts. But still, thank you. ★★★★★★★★★★

Beautiful Japanese traditional house, nicely decorated Tai-san and his family are great hosts, they even took us to a restaurant and picked us after dinner Tasty Japanese breakfast (we had the choice Western or Japanese) Nice garden with koi fish and bee hive (hope we can taste the honey next time!)

The family running Soy Guest House are really very kind and very friendly. You could not wish for better. Really good food,clean comfortable rooms, the house has been well renovated and it kept the authentic Japanese atmosphere. The main guy, Tai, is extremely kind, friendly and offering good advices about Takayama and surroundings.

Strongly recommended place to stay! Tai-san and his parents were very hospitable and kind. We decided on Soy Guesthouse because of the architecture and breakfast, and were not disappointed! They renovated an old farmhouse with the help of local carpenters, and the result is a very personal and contemporary atmosphere that teems with Japanese elements. The Japanese breakfast was delicious and home cooked, with some changes on the menu for the 2nd day. We hope to come back here some time!
