This is one of the best hotel we stayed in. Room was large with a sitting area with a couch as the same time putting three luggage together. The room was modern ,beautiful and well-equipped with air purifier. The staff at the front hotel and front desk were very friendly, helpful and professional with smiles and patient. Besides, the lobby was nice and clean with plenty sitting area for passengers to take a rest in this comfort zone. The breakfast was plenty of choices for foreigners. All in all, the hotel was excellent with a unforgettable moment. I definitely would stay at this hotel again.

Ordered the Western style comfort double room at the new wing (Orinkaku). The room is very spacious, with basic facilities provided. Good and featured breakfast, mixed with Japanese and Western styles, and also some Takayama special dishes. Less than 10 minutes walk to the Takayama JR station, but not easy if carrying the luggages in Winter with the ground covered with snow. The hotel has shuttle bus to the station, though not frequent service. This is a large hotel with different restaurants including Japanese, Western, French and Chinese cuisine. There is also a large souvenir shop at the hotel. Onsen is also available.

We stayed in the old (main) wing of Takayama Green Hotel, and the facilities in the room shows its age. The room is fully furnished, except for a lack of power outlets, so you won't be able to charge multiple items simultaneously. The hotel is in the midst of opening a new wing, so perhaps the facilities there will be better.

I booked the premier twin for 2 adults and 2 teens and find it quite small. Parking is free which if you are driving, its a plus point. Breakfast is good. The other issue is they only provide 2 bottles each pax each day and they expect you to pay if you want 3rd bottle. I have not encountered elsewhere i stayed in Japan, maybe this is the new standard.

Onsen hotel. Friendly staff ”
This is an onsen hotel with friendly English speaking staff. The restaurant near the reception serves good Japanese bbq and dishes at reasonable price. There’s a big souvenir shop in the hotel and you can do all your last min shopping there. It’s duty free too. The hotel is 10-15 min walk to the station and that’s inconvenient if you have big luggage and small kids. Other than that, this hotel is great.

Clean room, good location, wasn’t sure the staff were nice”
Nice and clean room with good location. The greeting from staff was good from the reception, but wasn’t sure about the back office staff as: 1. I have been calling the reservation department but got hang up, couldn’t reach them. 2. So that I sent email and got the reply but then no more follow up email from the hotel.

Excellent place to stay, eat, soak”
We booked the Green Hotel without much knowledge of the hotel or Takayama as a whole and had a lovely time. It was an offseason booking (late February) and we got a great deal on suite for us and the couple we were traveling with. Our rooms were quite large, including a full Western-style bedroom and bathroom plus tatami lounge/living space. Both of the hotel restaurants we tried (buffet and traditional Japanese) were excellent and offered good value. While I couldn't personally try out the onsen due to their (quite traditional and common) rules barring anyone with tattoos my wife went there multiple times in our two-night stay and loved it. The staff were also attentive and by and large quite comfortable dealing with guests who spoke little if any Japanese. If you're open to walking around a bit the Hida Takayama Folk Village and historic downtown district are both easily reached for a midday trip without bothering with a bus or taxi, and the train station is quite close by for arrival and departure trips. All in all I'd highly recommend the Takayama Green Hotel for anyone looking for a quiet, restful stop en route to Toyama or just looking to get out of the major cities and decompress for a while.

Takayama Hotel Standard Bearer”
We, a family of four with young children, stayed at the hotel for one night in two Japanese style rooms. We self drove to Takayama and took advantage of Takayama Green's free parking. For those getting to the city by train, the hotel location is a bit away from all the city's attractions. The hotel makes up for it by offering shuttle bus service though. The hotel staff is super helpful and most of the front desk staffers have excellent command of English. The traditional Japanese style rooms are very specious and very much ryokan style. You can also book in-room Kaiseki. Unfortunately, the ryokan's experience extends to bathroom styling as well. It's ryokan-like tiny as well. That said, if you're looking for a ryokan experience and modern 4-star hotel bath room experience isn't a prerequisite, Takayama green has a lot to offer. Finally, let's talk about onsen. I am not much of an onsen connoisseur myself, but I will make an exception. Takayama Green's onsen is simply best-in-class. Even my 7-year-old son enjoyed the experience. If you ever want to try out onsen, here it is. The only problem is that once you're used to Takayama Green's onsen, you might not be able to go back to a typical onsen experience.
