Small peaceful corner”
I took the room with a view of the paddy field. Although the hotel is built on relatively small land, the room is spacious. And a little private portico overlooking the paddy field was a delight. The hotel is very close to the Borobudur monument.

Cozy little house in the rice fields”
The Amrta Guest house is traditional Javanese style building(That is fresh and I felt even modern to me.)stands in the middle of rice field. The compact cozy room was very clean and the facilities are modern. The room doesn't have TV set, but who would like to watch TV in the peaceful and quiet country side? I enjoyed the sound of flog and insects in the night and woke up by the Koran in the morning. Standing shower is available and basic shower amenities are provided. And I have to say a swimming pool is very new! Free coffee, tea and water are provided 24hours in the public place. The restaurant provides both of traditional indonesian and western food. It was not so expexsive. You don't need to walk around long time to find a nice restaurant in the unknown place. I didn't have another information except Borobudur when I arrived at the guest house. But guest house staff friendly helped me guide well around this area.Borobudur from Punthuk Setumbu Hill. Sunrise and dawn bike riding in the rural country side was awesome! And the contemporary art gallery too. I could touch beautiful nature and local culture, besides Borobudur. I could not experience this time, but this district has many worthy site and various activities.Small temples, the active volcano Merapi. Rafting and bike riding in the nature. I think the staff will guide you if you stay at The Amrta Guest House. Thank you very much for your great hospitality, Aan and Wendy and all staff!

Absolutely Lovely. Peaceful and Tranquil ”
Everything about this place is great. Location is perfect, 5 to 10 mins walk from Borobudur Temple, right next to lush green paddy fields. Pak A'an is the most hospitable owner and host you could find. And his two staff, Pak Budi and Pak Jamal are just as friendly and helpful. Mr A'an took us to Puntuk Setumbu (Setumbu Hill) to view the sun rising over Borobudur, shrouded in mist. Very very atmospheric. He also took us to a couple of villages close by where pottery and tofu are made. I would very highly recommend Amrta Guest House to anyone visiting Borobudur, but do book early as there are only 3 cabanas and they are snapped up fast. There is no restaurant here, but Mr A'an's mother owns a lovely restaurant nearby. And Pak Budi and Pak Jamal would be ever willing to give you a lift there. Overall had a lovely, relaxing stay here. I will definitely be back again.

Just 9 minutes of leisurely walk to Borobudur !”
The host, Mr A'an, of Amrta takes care of every detail of the guesthouse and provides guests with helpful tips to explore Borobudur and its vicinity. This is our 3rd visit to Borobudur and Mr A'an arranged something new for us - cycling cum sunrise at a hilltop overlooking the temple complex tour with a local guide, Mr Jamal. It was a very enjoyable morning with Mr Jamal, who is humorous, enthusiastic and knows the place so well. Villagers greeted or called out for him when we cycled round the village. We enjoyed the stay at the guesthouse thoroughly and highly recommend it. Guests can write to Mr A'an to arrange for airport or land transfers at reasonable rates.

The best Local Experience in Magelang”
I don't rate a guesthouse or hotel just based on the room or the facilities, but on how the ambience and the services added the value to my whole vacation. The Amrta just so perfect and far above my expectation in making my recent trip so wonderful. The owner, Pak Aan has made the arrangement accordingly to fullfil my request that I emailed few days before my arrival, and clearly communicate the arrangement to Pak Budi, who was on duty when I arrived. Everything were so smooth. Then we met Pak Jamal, who was appointed to accompany us to the sites that I wanted to visit....and everything just turned more and more fascinating. I would say, they team up perfectly to provide the best for their guest, and they provide me the best local experiences that matched my travel style perfectly. I highly recommend The Amrta for it's beautifully designed chalets and green lawn, for the superb hospitality (especially Pak Budi) and for the customization and flexibility they offer on the tour options (always ask for Pak Jamal).

Kind staff made me "see"”
I stayed at the hotel for one night to visit the Borobudur temple. The staff were really friendly; the owner was directly involved in managing the hotel. He spoke excellent English, was knowledgeable about local history, and gave me advice on how to enjoy the temple. He personally drove me to my next destination in Yogyakarta the following day (with a fee, of course). When I checked into the hotel, I discovered that I had left my glasses at the Amrta Guest House. The staff were kind enough to let me know that the glasses were with them; I was really moved when the glasses were delivered to the hotel front office. Thank you. You made my day and let me "see" that gratuitous kindness still exist among us.

AWESOME AMAZING ”
We really enjoy to stay at this guest house during our Borobudur trip :) The best thing is all the staff are super friendly. They serve us as friend! As we never expect about this so we really surprised and happy to booked this guest house. Before we trip, we emailed with the owner of this guest house about the tour. He suggested us an awesome bicycle tour to phunchak Setumpu for the sunrise... Is really awesome that we cycling around the village and villager's farm. A pretty environment for us! Also, it is so near to the Candi Borobudur. For those who want to have a sunrise at Candi Borobudur, this is a good choice for u! Beside, it is also near to a traditional market, pos office, some small Candi....just need to cycle around Borobudur( 5-15 minutes).... Really convenience to stay here! ***higly recommendation for this guest house*** Cheers, A group of 5 teenagers.

Great staff & location”
We didn't expect much when we decided to stay in the guest house, but it turned out that The Amrta is quite special. Besides the location which is so close to Borobudur temple, the staff is very nice & accommodating. We arrived at night around 8pm & planned to rent a bike the next morning to see sunrise. Luckily, the Amrta has the bike rental itself and the staff arranged the sunrise & village tour right away. The room itself is unique, it's a rice barn with javanese village style. The room is small with mattress on the ground, very basic room, no toiletries with dim light in the room. Yet, it's quite clean and they provide wifi network.

Had the most pleasant experience!”
Stayed for one night for a show in Borobudur, really was not expecting what the hotel offered. Agreeing for the sunrise bicycle tour was a blessing, cycled the area for around 3 hours guided by a really friendly local to see the sunrise over Borobudur temple and mount Merapi, followed by a trip across paddy fields and villages, got to try my hands on clay pottery and oversaw the process of making a tofu all in one go for a mere IDR150k. Hotel staffs was extremely friendly (including the owner), room was cozy. No complaints whatsoever. Highly Recommended!

Great introduction to a fantastic area”
Aan and his staff were provided detailed and reliable services throughout our stay. The premises is beautifully situated beside rice paddies and just a stroll to the Borobudur temple. Restaurants and attractions were easily found and they provided an awesome guided bicycle tour. Amrta is a great place to relax and includes a lovely pool and bungalow rooms, that were even air-conditioned when the power supply was working :) With just three rooms there is only rudimentary facilities (coffee/tea) but all you need is very close. Charming, authentic, intimate character. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay”
There are 3 huts available for rent. I stayed in the hut facing the swimming pool and the shower room had a see through glass where you can view the paddy fields. I liked the modern twist in the toilet and shower area. Candi Borobudur entrance is just a short walk away from the property. There is only coffee and tea (self serve station). Their staffs were friendly and shared stories and places to go for visits and adventure. Our group enjoyed our stay at The Amrta Guest House.

The hotel is outstanding: the rooms are beautiful, clean, and confortable. The view is very nice and there is a pool! The hotel is 5 mins walk to the temple and there are many places to eat near by. The must: all the staff is welcoming and helpful. The owner of the hotel picked us up at the airport, find us a scooter and personally drove us to JEPARA during the evening ! He helped us to organize the rest of our trip and was really friendly. I really recommend this hotel which is perfect !!!

Close to Borobudur, the Rice fields and to traffic”
We liked the people there and the huts were also ok. The view towards the rice fields was tremendous. On the less good side was the noise. Not only did the muslim prayer call wake us up (which we expected from other reports) but also motorcycle traffic. I am also unsure about the costs of this location. For the same price, I stayed in Yogaykarta in a five star hotel (Eastparc). And there is the typical (for the tourism business) selling of the customer, i.e. whenever you book something over the hotel there is a 50% commission for the hotel. I wish they understood that hotels do not own their customers. Besides that, everything was fine and I very much liked the people I met there and in the surroundings.
