We loved this hotel. Located across the street from the train and subway, and lots of convenient buses. The hotel serves a large breakfast, free coffee and tea and has a nice lounge area. There is a men’s and separate women’s sentient bath that was a delight every evening after long days out sightseeing. I highly recommend this hotel.

Normally you would expect hotels in Japan to be really small, but this hotel blew me away. With this price range, it’s definitely worth it! Just less than 5 minutes from Nijo Station, and many buses from the nearby bus stop that brings you to the famous majestic Kinkaku-ji Temple - which is difficult to travel by train. It is also possible to stroll down to Nijo Castle and Nishiki Market! The room is really spacious and the toilet is really beautifully designed. Free-flow drinks at the reception area, you can choose various drinks, such as mocha, hot chocolate, latte, espresso shots, or fruit juice - ice cubes are provided. The drink bar is really the main highlight of this hotel for me, as I’m always looking forward to have a nice hot chocolate after a long day of walking around Kyoto. Really highly recommended!

Black decoration, very trendy bgm like edm, employees with no uniform, all of the elements shows the unique of Canvas hotel among the Royal Park group. Public bath is my favorite, due to the circulate filter system, the water remains clean all the time.

Fully equipped with any facilities you could ever want. Amentities up the wazoo. The public bath is often completely unoccupied. The lobby design is of course photogenic. Room size above average for japanese business hotel. Free drinks and coffee 24 hours a day. king size bed is two small beds smushed together. Still very comfortable though.

Located in an excellent location (can see the hotel on the JR Nijo platform!!), the hotel is super convenient for tourists. The staff is super helpful and we have no hardship in communicating in English. The room is clean and spacious. Definitely recommend to those who are planning to visit Kyoto.

excellent location, only three stations from Kyoto. 5 mins by rapid train (or 10 mins for local train) then 2 mins walk to the hotel. easy access to the JR system. the price is much lower than the hotel round the Kyoto station. If you are holding a JR pass, consider this hotel!

Close to Nijo station (central Kyoto and a great base to see all the sights) only 3 stops on the jr line from Kyoto or 1 on the express jr! Staff were lovely, facilities were great and they even gave us a top floor room with lovely view since it was our honeymoon!! Thanks

I would return to this hotel because everything went so well during my stay. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Awesome amenities for ladies. Free drinks all day in the lobby. Spacious deluxe twin room. Loved the green tea they offer. very good quality. The breakfast was a bit disappointing and I am hoping it would be improved in the future.

I've stayed at three separate Royal Park Canvas locations over the past year and have enjoyed the value at each one. For the Nijo location specifically, it's right in front of Nijo station so you have easy access around Kyoto via the Tozai and Sanin lines. There are also a bunch of busses around that can take you where you need to go. The gym was handy and they even have a public bath. Great view overlooking the station. Bathrooms are always very nice at these hotels too, which I appreciate. Staff was also very nice despite my difficulties with Japanese. Will be back when I go back to Kyoto

I really can’t think about one thing I can criticise of the hotel. For this price - I could get extra pillows, curler, iron, and many other amenities, complimentary. I especially love the tattoo-friendly public bath that is accessible by the hotel guests at most of the hours.

Very good location, Nijo JR station is just across the road. There's a few restaurants and a huge arcade nearby! Standard room size with free tea/coffee station, breakfast is not bad. Staff are very friendly and helpful, we will definitely stay here again.

A comfortable hotel immediately adjacent to Nijo JR station with connection to a major metro line, making it straightforward to get around. Plenty of food options and a nice lounge with free coffee bar, plus a small bathhouse (sento). Gym is pretty tiny and there is some road noise (if you are a light sleeper).
