cool place where you can stay and enjoy your time with some friends! you have to pay for breakfast but its normal in a wombats chain. It is situated in the city centre which is cool if you have to arrive in the middle of the night. The neighbourhood is safe!

Wombat’s hostels are always super good. So much space, how many keys you want, no tax for this or that (I hate hostels that do that thing). My stay was pretty good. I had stayed in a private dorm. The only thing that was not cool were some non sense people that have did party in the room next to mine. I had complained one time but they had did other times during the night. Like 3a.m. Shouting, laughing and being super noisy. Although, I recommend you to stay here. You just have to have some luck to don’t pick people like that. But they can be in any hostel.

The hostel is near bar street so it’s very loud and noisy. Can hear music and people screaming and singing all night. Sound proof is so bad. The beds are so bad shape. Some are broken and makes squeaking noise. The toilet has a very bad smell.

We're a couple in our mid 20's who like clean accommodation but with a bit of a relaxed / social vibe. This is exactly what we got at Wombats. We arrived early Friday 16th and were too early to check-in, so left our luggage at the storage and went walking. It rained heavily and we got soaked, so returned to the hostel earlier than check-in (check-in is at 2pm). A very understanding guy (with a beard) and Irish lady allowed us to check in early as the room was ready... we needed a shower badly!! So, first positive experience was the friendly attitude of the staff... always a nice thing. This was our only staff interaction as we were always out-and-about apart from check-in / check-out (check-out took less than a minute, no issues at all) The room (private, double) was clean... what more can I say? That's all we wanted and that's what we got. If I could say one thing, it is to purchase better quality pillows. Just note that as you can see from pics, the floor is Lino, not carpet. I actually prefer this as it's more hygienic, but it's just not all that luxurious on your feet, but remember this is a hostel! We will return to Budapest next year and we will stay at Wombats again. PS. The lift worked. The wi-fi worked fine. I cannot comment on the AC as we were using it to heat the room instead of cooling it down.

Happy with my stays ”
I was in the wombat's vienna before Budapest. As compared, Budapest receptionist did an excellent job as they are much more friendly, approachable and resourceful. One staff offered us the stamp card and we could redeem our breakfast when we had two stamps! The facilities are equipped with utensils but there is no cups for our coffee. Or else, you can pay 1000huf for their breakfast too! The cleanliness is good but the room has a weird smell. There is bar in the hostel and they are all very friendly too! In short, it is a good stay and definitely value for the money.

I got my stuffed wombat!”
I stayed at 3 Wombats during my trip and all were great experiences. I finally got my stuffed wombat at this location! All were clean, great atmospheres, friendly staff, and amazing breakfasts. Would absolutely recommend and would come back!

harsh clorox smell in private room”
Location was the big plus. Private parking structure is avilable, 5000 HUF / day. The smell of clorox in the private room was really harsh, kept the window open for 3 days. A lot of young and drunk guests who will keep you up at night especially since the courtyard of the hotel is the hangout zone.

The 8-bed is surprisingly spacious, what a treat (some other places would jam 10 more beds there). However, only 1 bathroom meant queuing at busy times (9-10 AM, 20-22h). It also gets rather filthy after one or two showers (but that's the problem with people, not staff). The music in the lobby unnecessarily loud (reverberated even). They snatch IDs as a deposit for the key card.. don't forget to fetch it when checking out.
