SO DIRTY!”
The duvet had many stains, and no duvet cover was provided. It was soo cold in winter but I was so grossed out to use the duvet. The kitchen was dirty, no water, the toaster oven looked like it hasn’t been cleaned in 10 years with a lot of food stain, drinking water has ran out, kitchen utensils were so yucks and non existent. The 4-bed dorm is right next to the kitchen, it was shabby. The room floor was also dirty. I had no choice but to book this guesthouse as a last minute option. Never have I seen a dirtier guesthouse during my 7 weeks in JP.

Exceptional”
Friendly and hospitable staff. Bar and diner space has underground cave feel. Billiards table, kitchen access, cosy bed. It does get cold but there is heating. Hostel is a short transit from Nagano Station to Gondo Station and a 5-10 minute walk (note suica and pasmo cards aren’t accepted on this line, you must buy tickets 170 yen one way to Nagano St).

All I needed”
I liked the chilled vibe of Nagano and this place. The bed was comfy and I loved having a compartment for your bags and other belongings in your ‘capsule’. Plus, a shelf to place a laptop if you need. Kitchen is well equipped. However, no real provisions given. But that was ok for me. It’s near a 7-11 and about a 10 min walk to a big supermarket. From the station, it’s about a leisure 20 mins walk which I didn’t mind. The temple is about 10 mins away. Washing machine and dryer available for 500 yen. Other items for rental too like towels or toothbrush but I suggest you just bring your own. I really enjoyed my stay. Staff really lovely too! Would stay again.

Not a bad place for solo traveller”
Sambo san is friendly and nice to guest. He usually tend the bar so seldom interacts with guest unless when we are at the bar. He will share about his travelling experiences. The place is rather dimly-lit, but decoration is quite exotic. Dorm room itself is very cozy. I was the only guest there, so it was just quiet. The beds are separated by curtains. There are compartments in the sleeping area to put ur luggage (backpack). Overall good for solo traveller. :) Located about 20-25 min walk from Nagano stn. Not hard to find and there are convenient stores and restaurants nearby.

Highly recommended hostel”
Though it's a bit far away from Nagano JR Station, it's still a very good hostel for backpacker. You can either choose to walk from the stations for 15 mins, or take bus (about 150 yen?) to get to the hostel. The reception staff are nice and helpful. They provide clear instructions. Despite not extremely neat, the room are quite stylish and clean. And I am satisfied with its privacy. Moreover, there is a convenient store (7Eleven) opposite the hostel. No worries of getting food and goods during midnight. Simply saying, this hostel is worth staying.

Great Hostel!”
Easy to find and not too far from the train station/bus drop off. Really closely located to Zenkoji temple. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Although quiet with guests the staff still created a good atmosphere. The bar area has a really cool quirky vibe and the rooms all have their own curtains so are private. Really enjoyed my stay here, definitely recommend!

Bar with beds”
Thats what I would say about the guesthouse: a bar with some bedrooms. The guesthouse kitchen is totally unattended and veeery dirty, reception only open from 12 in the morning. Showers and toilets are ok, bike rental service has good quality bikes but expensive. Free drink everyday. Overall not bad but could be better.

More like a pub with accommodation”
This place could be very cool and fun for a single, male backpacker. The pictures look way better than reality. The staff is indeed very nice and has good English, but most of the day the desk is unattended. The common area of the pub opens at noon, making the kitchen the only place left to hang out in the morning. The facilities are old, and not very well kept especially the kitchen (accept the toilets and showers which are spotless). Smoking is allowed in the kitchen, which is cool for smokers, and less for others... My wife did not feel very comfortable in the guesthouse itself, and I think some women might feel the same. All of the above is compared to other backpackers in Japan! I can see why some would love this place and its young hip vibe, and I hope this could help people make the right decision for them.

Exceptional”
An awesome guest house, typical Japanese mostly made of wood, close to the train station, clean, comfortable beds, hot showers, has a fully equipped kitchen and a great lounge with a pool table. Plus the staff are super friendly and helpful! Ended up staying 3 nights, wish I could have stayed longer!

There was a welcome drink at the bar! Was an empty day. Had the floor to myself. Bunk bed had a foldable table,which was convenient as I had to use my laptop. Could do a little more to the cleanliness of the bathroom.

Freaky decor”
The outside of the place is very weird looking. Inside is very dark and gloomy. Going to the room through a dark walkway is freaky. Room has no lock and the sliding door is very squeaky (a lot lube oil would be helpful) every time you open and close and it bothers other travelers. Toilets are on one side and showers are on the others rather than on the same side. The bunk is so small just like you are sleeping in a box. Luckily, I am a small person. I wish there's lock on the door so no one would keep on opening the sliders to find someone else. I probably would not stay there again. Not a good value for the money!

Really weird place”
Good enough for a quick stay. The entrance is a bar area that has a weird smell. Bathrooms and kitchen area are connected to outside so no heating. Rooms are good enough, but was freezing going to bathroom at night. Overall kind of weird layout.

Hotel bohemio y fincuonal”
El hotel es divertido, tiene lo necesario, los baños compartido están recién arreglados y están limpios, con duchas muy buenas. Puedes encontrar hasta un rockodromo en el propio hotel. A 5 minutos andando se encuentra el templo más importante y la zona antigua de Nagano.
