Wonderful Hospitality ”
We stayed here in March 2018 on a trip round western Japan. The Yudanaka Seifuso Hotel was a wonderful highlight of our trip. The hotel is traditional Japanese style with tatami rooms and futons for sleeping, this in itself was a nice experience. The hospitality here is wonderful and the owners could not be more friendly or welcoming and provided us with a free transfer to the Yudanaka Monkey Park and provided recommendations on the local area. The dinner at Yudanaka was exceptional using fresh ingredients and cooked in the simple but delicious Japanese style. The hotel boasts a number of onsens one of which is partially outside which is highly recommended! Overall I would absolutely return to Yudanaka Seifuso and would not hesitate in recommending to others!

An amazing weekend stay!”
I remember staying in Yudanaka a couple of years ago. We had a fantastic night in a ryokan there but couldn't remember its name as a friend had booked it for us. This time, we booked by ourselves and went with the Seifuso hotel; the review scores were superb. As we got to the hotel, after an easy 2-minute walk from the station, we realized to our pleasant surprise that the Seifuso hotel was the same we had stayed in two years before! As before, the welcome from the owners and staff and their service throughout our stay were superb. They accommodated our requests for meals without seafood, offered to drive us to the monkey park, and gave us delicious locally grown apples as a gift. The hotel itself is obviously a little old but clean and very comfortable. The floors can be creaky and make some noise when people are moving around, but that shouldn't matter when sleeping after a relaxing bath in the outdoor onsen. Overall, an amazing stay in a pretty mountain area. We will be coming back a third time!

The Highlight of my Entire Trip to Japan.”
As a frugal traveler on a tight (pensioner's) budget, I feared that experiencing a stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan (much less enjoying a pricey "kaiseki" dinner) was beyond my budget. Not so, thanks to the Yudanaka Seifuso. Most economically priced, conveniently located (a mere minutes stroll from the train station), utterly quiet, super clean, my single room - *huge* with private bath and lovely adjacent private tea porch, tatami mats and comfy futon, and my own "yukata" robe for visiting the steamy on-site onsen - which I had all to myself! The kaiseki dinner - amazing, and just $35. And that's not even counting the lovely staff, and the free ride to the entrance to the Monkey Park. In short: imho, the Yudanaka Seifuso offers the best value in accommodations if your goal is to witness those incredible Snow Monkeys.

A gem in Yudanaka”
Yudanaka town is nothing special. Most people go there to see the snow monkeys nearby, as we did. We booked Yudanaka Seifuso Hotel for one night. We arrived late and an older couple greeted us on arrival. They did not speak any English but called someone from nearby to come and assist. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was traditional Japanese style with tatami mat flooring and a futon. But unlike other traditional rooms it was very big and had an en-suite toilet and washing sink. We left early the next morning. The old man who met us the night before gave us a friendly goodbye with directions of where to go to see the monkeys (in Japanese!), and a couple of delicious apples to eat on the way. Can highly recommend this lovely place. On top of it being great it is really very cheap.

Absolutely amazing and cannot wait to go back”
This was the first time for my partner and I to go travelling oversea's. We decided to stay in Nagano for 2nights and we are so lad we did! I do not normally go off Tripadvisor comments as I work in hospitality myself so I know that it is not always honest however I cannot hold back from sending in my amazing experience. We read about Yudanaka Seifuso online and it is even better than anyone can put into words. As long as you prepare yourself for a cultural experience you will enjoy this town to the maximum. The hotel is beautiful and the family are so lovely. Limited english but they try so hard to assist in any way possible. The Onsens! oh my! so perfect and private. Perfect for couples. Defintely worth the train ride!

Beautiful Inn, Friendly Staff, and Hot Onsen”
very close (~100 meters) to the yudanaka train station, the seifuso hotel is staffed by a charming older couple and a younger man. all of them are very generous and kind, lending snow-boots to travellers who underestimate the snow around the monkey park, giving a ride to the entrance if you'd like, pointing out nearby restaurants and cooking their own delicious food. the rooms are beautiful, tatami mat traditional rooms with some great 1960's and 1970's antiques. our room had a small sitting room by the window with some beautiful old chairs. there are two onsen in the room, the public which is open to women during the day and men at night, and the private which is supposed to be reverse hours. the hotel was quiet enough that we could use either when we liked. the private is nice, for being private, but the public is really beautiful and there is a more air circulation so you don't get dizzy quite so unpleasantly.

Good Location”
Yudanaka Seifuso is well located near to Yudanaka Station which is about 3-5 mins walk. The room is very clean and the staffs there are very friendly and make us feel welcome. There are 2 staffs who are able to speak mandarin which greatly helped us in communicating with the owners. The best part of this hotel is the private onsen which is very spacious and relaxing. Breakfast and Dinner served are traditional Japanese meals, and they are well prepared and placed in the allocated dining room for us to eat. The owner's son also drove us from the hotel to the Snow Monkey Park which is about 10mins drive away. Overall, we would greatly recommend Yudanaka Seifsuso Onsen for stay.

Exceptional”
Also stayed at 4 air bnb's around Japan but it was great to stay at this local Ryokan for a different experience that gave our family a closer look at Japanese culture. Host takes a personal interest in welfare of guests, 25/12/17 were not many guests so he had time that may not always have but provided snow boots and took us up to snow monkey drop off point for no charge, recommended local ski field Ryuoo Ski Park which is 20 min free ski bus ride from ski shop opposite Yudanaka rail station. Very easy to organise while you are there. Also gave us large juicy seasonal apples, much better that what we get in Australia. Coming up here was not difficult. 1.5hr bullet train from Tokyo to Nagano, 1 hr local snow monkey train from Nagano to Yudanaka to arrive at lunch time, Snow monkeys pm. Ryokan is very short walk from Railway station (also information and bus station). Ideal location and place to stay. Highly recommend the Ryokan and coming up here for snow monkeys and skiing.

Fantastic Hospitality”
We had a great stay at the Yudanaka Seifuso Hotel. The owners were very hospitable making sure that we were comfortable and they even gave us a lift up to the trail that leads to the snow monkeys. When we were leaving they insisted we have some apples and even gave us some delicious apple jam. It was a great couple of days.

Awesome Stay”
The staff were so amazing even when we didn't speak the same language. They even drove us all the way up to the monkey park and gave us Fuji apples as parting gifts. The rooms were very clean and spacious, with three of us having ample space. Lastly the onsen. Simply amazing. Having never used an onsen before, it was a great experience and we used it at all hours of the day. Thanks so much Yudanaka Seifuso Onsen! We had a great time and we would LOVE to come back soon

It was a pleasure to stay there”
I liked Yudanaka Seifuso Hotel very much! I will definitely go there again. It was winter and I was there to visit Jigokudani monkey park. Hot spring bath (onsen) after a chilly day in the park was really something to remember and wish to experience again.

I love the kotatsu in my room”
1. Super near to station, like literally 3 mins around the corner 2. Super near to other onsens in Yudanaka (not Shibu tho! You need to take a bus to Shibu Onsen) 3. Dinner was 4,000yen. Had beef shabu-shabu, rice, along 7 other mini dishes. 4. Love wearing the yukata. It was so comfortable and I felt like a Japanese! 5. There are 2 onsens in this ryokan. 1 of them was filled with apples :o 6. Near to other restaurants 7. Super casual Recommendation to visit around this ryokan: 1. You should definitely try the breathtaking onsen in Yorozuka Onsen Hotel too, it is open for public but you need to pay around 1100yen 2. Snow Monkey Park. You can take a bus directly from Yudanaka Station but the ryokan owner offered me a ride! To get back to this ryokan, you just need to walk to the bus station outside Monkey Park. Purchase a ticket and take the bus to return to Yudanaka station. 3. The bus station offers a direct ride to Shibu Onsen too. Just ask the lady at the ticket counter.

Highly recommend if you are after the traditional experience and onsen. The hotel is very close to Yudanaka station, so easy access to Nagano, Snow Monkeys, Shiga Kogen. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The onsen is amazing. The owner drove us to see the Snow Monkeys which was a lovely gesture and made our day easier. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great traditional Japanese stay away from the city”
The highlight of our trip! I travelled with a friend to Japan just recently and stayed in Yudanaka in between hostels in Tokyo and Osaka. It was very refreshing after the hustle and bustle of the city in Tokyo. We stayed in the large traditional room which was most certainly roomy, fully equipped with sink, Tv, powerpoints, safe, robes, handtowels, beds, plenty of spare linen, dining table, free green tea, glasses, small bar fridge (with Asahi beer) and two heaters and seating area on other side of room. The service was fantastic, the staff do not speak alot of English, but most certainly enough for us to understand eachother. They were very open and answered all questions we had. They also gave us a ride to the snow monkey park (which seems to be the main reason for tourists in the Yudanaka area) To help with the trip from Tokyo we looked up our trip through Hyperdia which I highly recommend for a guide for trains, and managed to find the Sake and Beer brewery on the walk back from the snow monkey park (also highly recommended). 2minute walk from train station and corner store and plenty of places to eat nearby.

Best hospitality!!”
My stay at seifuso was superb. If you're looking for a place stay while visiting the monkeys or on a ski trip, seifuso is great! The staff are extra caring and willing to go the extra mile for the comfort of their guests. The owners will kindly send you to the monkey park and they even gift you apples when you check out! The onsens are also very relaxing and a good way to unwind after a day of skiing. There are also many local joints where you can grab dinner/lunch and a small hot spring village a short 20 minute walk away. (However, of the 9 onsens, only 1 is available for use of visitors who are not residing in the onsen town) Once again, cannot emphasise the kindness of the staff and they really did make our stay at Seifuso a pleasure!

Great experience!”
We went to Yudanaka to see snow monkeys. The hotel is so close to train station about 5mins walk. We arrived before check in time so we decided to go to monkey park first, the owner drove us to the nearest entrance that he can. The onzen time was supurb! I dropped my ring in the changing room and realized that about half and hour later, their cleaning staff found it and kept it for me at the front desk. We had wonderful time there and definitely reccomend this place to anyone who will go to Yudanaka.
